One of the India’s oldest management school, founded in the year 1949, XLRI, earns accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for its flagship management and doctoral programmes.
Last year also, the institute received an international accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Now, from this year, XLRI has joined some of the business schools which have also received accreditation for their doctoral programmes.
AACSB International was founded in the year 1916. It is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools. It also offers undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. It is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been only earned by less than five percent of the world’s business management programs. It is not easy to achieve accreditation. The whole process takes a year to get completed. There are a lot of rigorous internal assessments happening, mentor review and at last peer review.
During the whole process, the school aims at developing and implementing a plan that is aligned with the standards of the AACSB International. A lot of excellence is required in these areas. Areas such as innovation and strategic management require a lot of hard work. Also, the students, teachers, and staff need to be active so make this happen.
Robert D Reid, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International, “It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn the AACSB Accreditation and I commend XLRI Jamshedpur for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community.”
By earning accreditation, XLRI has set a benchmark for other institutions. It has shown that it, as an institute is committed towards the growth of the students and it also makes sure that the students get the best in terms of knowledge and innovation. It is not only the job of the institution but the whole team which includes faculty, staff is required to be actively involved if the institute has to earn an accreditation.
Director of XLRI, Father E Abraham, said, “The AACSB Accreditation is an important milestone for XLRI, India’s oldest management school founded in 1949. Staying true to our core Jesuit philosophy of “MAGIS” – ‘Pursuit of Excellence in all Endeavors’, this very prestigious AACSB accreditation will take us a step ahead to strengthen our foothold and reputation in the global arena and evolve towards becoming a preferred management institute of choice for discerning, future business leaders from India and abroad.
This is something that has not happened in India and these two accreditation will enhance the chance of recruiters coming to their campus.
