Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 registration process began on 16th August, as notified by the XLRI Jamshedpur. The online application process for XAT 2018 will remain open until 30th November. XLRI holds XAT on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). XLRI conducts XAT at all India level to choose students for Management Education.
The XAT score is applicable for the admission in more than 150 institutes such as XLRI management programs, XAT associate member institutes, XAMI member institutes, and various other colleges offering management education.
To fulfill the eligibility criteria, the applicants must have acquired a Bachelor’s degree of 3 years. The applicants shall belong to Indian nationality. In the case of NRI and Foreign Nationals, the admission to the programs will be on the basis of GMAT scores. The candidates who are still in their final year or in last semester (completing the final exam by 10th June 2018) are also eligible to apply for XAT exam 2018.
The Registration for XAT 2018 can be made through online mode only. In order to apply for XAT exam, the applicants can visit the official website- xatonline.in. The candidates can pay the application fee through 3 modes such as Cash, Online banking or DD. In order to pay the offline fee, the applicant shall have to generate e-challan along with the application fee in the IDBI bank in the form of a Demand Draft.
As far as the fee registration is concerned, the fee is 1650/- INR, whereas the candidates seeking admission in XLRI programs shall have to pay an addition of 300/- INR as fee. The XAT fee with late registration is 2,000/- INR, while the people seeking XLRI programs shall have to pay an extra amount of 500/- INR as an additional fee.
The admit cards will be available on the Official website on 20th December. The XAT exam will be conducted on 7th January 2018. XAT will be conducted across India in 47 cities along with 2 international cities namely Dubai and Kathmandu.
Changes in XAT 2018 exam: Some amendments have been made in XAT from this year by the management. From the present year onwards, the XAT exam will be held via computer based Test i.e. online mode. The timing for the exam has been extended by adding 5 minutes more i.e. 3 hours and 35 minutes (earlier it was 3 hours and 30 minutes). Another management entrance exam – SNAP will also be conducted in online mode from this year.
The exam structure shall comprise of 5 sections such as Quantitative Ability, English Language & Logical Reasoning, Decision making, General Knowledge, and Essay. The number of questions under Paper I for Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation will be 26, 23, 29 respectively. There will be 25 under General Knowledge and Essay Writing and one Essay in Paper II. Each question will carry one mark except for essay writing.
The answer keys will be made available in the 2nd week of January. The XAT result will be declared in the last week of January 2018. As soon as the XAT 2018 result will be out, the different institutes will be declaring the lists of short listed applicants for GD and PI round. After clearing both the rounds, the applicants will be getting enrolled in the institutes.
Note- The applicants seeking to different institutes apart from XLRI, after appearing for XAT exam, need to apply separately to other institutes of their choices.
