West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) had released a notification (advertisement no: 19/2017) last week for inviting applications to fill Assistant Professor vacancies. The application process for WBPSC recruitment 2017 started on 21st August and will remain open till 11th September. Read below to know more about the recruitment.
WBPSC recruitment 2017 will be done for general degree colleges in the West Bengal Education Service under the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Biotechnology. WBPSC has called for applications for the vacant seats in the following 30 subjects- Anthropology, Bengali, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Conservation Biology, Economics, Education, English, French, Geography, Geology, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Microbiology, Nepali, Persian, Philosophy, Physics, Physiology, Political Science, Phycology, Sanskrit, Santali, Sociology, Statistics, Urdu, and Zoology.
As far as the eligibility is required, the minimum requirement is that the applicants must have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) or State Eligibility Test (SET). The age of the applicant shall not be more than 37 years.
The applicants who are willing to apply for the Assistant Professor posts shall possess a good academic record with minimum 55% marks at Master’s degree in an applicable subject or an equivalent grade B in 7 point scale wherever pointer system is implemented or an equivalent Degree from a recognized University. The applicants need to pay 210/- INR as the application fee with an additional convenience fee for the chosen payment mode. SC/ST category applicants of West Bengal as well as Persons with Disabilities (P.W.D.) with 40% physical disability and above do not require to pay any fee.
The last date for submitting the application fee is 11th September, while the last date for the payment of application fee via e-challan will be 12th September. The date for the exam is yet to be decided and will soon be declared by the authorities. The applicant is required to create an account on the website – pscwbonline.gov.in for applying for the recruitment.
Talking about the exam pattern, the WBPSC written exam will comprise of the subjects such as Reasoning, Aptitude, General Knowledge, Concerned Subjects and General English.
The recruitment procedure will be taken place through a written test followed by a personal interview round. In order to get selected, the applicants will have to pass each selection round as organized by the WBPSC. As per the norms, the candidates shall have to acquire minimum cut-off score in the written examination as outlined by the Commission.
The selected applicants will get salary of 15,600/- INR to 39,100/- INR and a grade pay of 6,000 /- INR.
