WBJEE 2018 exam date announced, no clarification on mode of entrance exam

It’s time for engineering aspirants to start practicing! West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) recently announced WBJEE 2018 exam date. The Common entrance exam for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture courses in Universities, Government Colleges and self-financed Institutes in the State for the academic session of 2018–19 will be conducted on April 22, 2018. While most of the entrance exams have already taken the Online route, WBJEE Board has not cleared whether the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam – 2018 will be conduced in online mode or offline mode (as usual).

The Board released a notification on 31st August 2017 regarding the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2018 exam. While only WBJEE Exam date 2018 has been announced now, the Board also informed that the application process for WBJEE 2018 will start tentatively in the first week of January, 2018. The applications for WBJEE 2018 will be taken through Online mode only.

WBJEEB was formed in the year 1962 for the function of conducting Common Entrance Examinations for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal. WBJEE is a state level entrance examination through which the applicants will get admission into different colleges and universities in the state of West Bengal.

Eligibility for WBJEE 2018: The applicants must have completed 10+2 examination from a recognized board. The applicants must have qualified in the subjects Physics & Mathematics along with one of the subjects Biology/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as compulsory subjects. The candidates should have secured minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST category) in the above three subjects taken together and minimum 30% marks in English. The candidates who are going to take Class 12th board exam in 2018 will also be eligible to apply for WBJEE 2018.

The tentative dates for the whole process have been published. The information brochure is expected to be published in the last week of December. The application will begin tentatively in 1st week of January 2018. The application forms for this exam will be received online via the Board’s website- www.wbjeeb.in. The last date to submit the form along with fees is expected to be the first week of February 2018, whereas the date for corrections in the application is the second week of February.

Going by the last year’s exam (WBJEE 2017), the application will be Rs. 500. The applicants can either pay the fee via e-challan of Allahabad Bank or via online mode. The applicants will have to upload their scanned documents during the WBJEE registration.

WBJEE 2018 will be conducted on 22nd April 2018 (Sunday), whereas the admit card is expected to be issued in the second week of April. The Board had conducted WBJEE in offline mode (OMR Pattern) last year and the same is expected for WBJEE 2018 too. The Board has not updated any information on the mode of examination. The question paper will comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. The result of entrance exam is expected to be declared in the first week of June 2018.
