WBJEE 2017 would be held on April 23, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has announced. The Board published the information brochure for the exam today on December 28, while the applications will be submitted from 5th January onward. As the information brochure is out now, the students can get all the necessary information like eligibility criteria, exam date, exam pattern, syllabus and form filling process.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE 2017) will be administered across West Bengal, Assam and Tripura for admission in undergraduate courses of Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy & Architecture in various institutions of West Bengal. WBJEE 2017 will be applicable for admissions in 9 state-funded/ state-aided universities, 9 government colleges, 4 private & self-financing universities, 77 Private & self-financing colleges and 5 Private & self-financing colleges (Minority Institutions) of West Bengal for the academic year 2017-18 only.
Earlier, WBJEEB used to conduct WBJEEM (Engineering & Medical) examination, but as the NEET will come into play from this academic session for all medical & dental admissions, WBJEE 2017 will only cover admissions in Engineering, Pharmacy and Architeture courses.
As per the information brochure, the students aspiring to appear for WBJEE 2017 must fulfill certain conditions listed below:
- Lower age limit is 17 years (as on 31.12.2017), while there is no upper age limit.
- 10+2 passed (or appearing in 2017 annual exam) with at least 45% marks (aggregate) in three compulsory subjects.
- Must have passed English (10+2) level with 30% marks.
The students will be able to apply for WBJEE 2017 only through the online mode at the official web portal www.wbjeeb.in. The application window will remain open from January 5 to February 4, 2017. The students will have to pay the application fee of Rs. 500 (plus the Bank’s service charges). The fee can be paid through net banking/ debit card/ credit card/ e-challan in any branch of Allahabad Bank.
WBJEE 2017 will be held as a paper-based exam (OMR sheet) on April 23, 2017. The exam would consist of two papers: Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry combined). Paper 1 will have 75 questions, while Paper 2 will have 80 questions (40 questions from each subject). Both Paper 1 & Paper 2 will be held on the same day in two different shifts with Paper 1 in the morning shift from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by Paper 2 in the evening shift from 2 pm to 4 pm. Maximum marks for both the papers will be 100 and only those students securing a rank in WBJEE 2017 will be allowed to participate in the counselling.
