WBGDRB has said that West Bengal group D admit card 2017 issued to the candidates for the previously notified exam date (May 14), will also stand valid for the revised exam date (May 20).
The problem of unemployment in India has reached such a level that even graduates & post graduates are applying for a job, the eligibility of which is just Class 8. More than 25 lakh applications were received by the West Bengal Group-D Recruitment Board (WBGDRB), and the applicants include not only graduate & post graduates but also, Ph.D holders. For now, the applications have been approved by the Board and the candidates will have to go through designated selection procedure which consists of a written exam and an interview.
The recruitment to the Group-D posts in the offices of West Bengal government was earlier to be done by the Staff Selection Commission, but due to poor infrastructure, it was cancelled. The state government then constituted the West Bengal Group-D Recruitment Board to carry out the recruitment process, which started functioning from January 1, 2016. Upon approval from the state government, WBGDRB invited applications for recruitment of 6,000 Group-D personnel in various categories. The vacancies include over 3 thousand unreserved posts and overall, more than 25 lakh candidates have registered for the posts.
The Board will organise the written examination for all the candidates and will shortlist a limited number of candidates to be called for interview. A final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks of written exam and interview. The written exam will be of 85 marks, while the interview will carry 15 marks.
The exam will have 85 multiple choice questions (each question having 1 mark) divided among three sections as follows:
- General Studies (History, Geography, Physical Science, Bio-Science, Environmental Science) – 40 questions
- Language Paper (Bengali/ Nepali/ Hindi/ Urdu) – 10 questions
- Mathematics (Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry) – 35 questions
All the questions in the written exam will be of Class VIII standard of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The exam will be of 75 minutes duration.
The Board has uploaded the admit cards for some applicants. The applicants from Kolkata, Coochbehar, Purba Midnapore, Paschim Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, Alipurdaur, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Nadia, Burdwan, and Murshidabad districts can access their respective admit card from official website www.wbgdrb.in. The Board will upload the admit cards of remaining candidates shortly.
Earlier, the written exam was scheduled for May 14 and hence the admit cards also bear the same date. However, as the exam date was revised to May 20, the Board has clarified that new admit cards will not be issued and the already issued admit cards will remain valid for 20 May exam. The candidates have been asked to report to the respective test centers at 12.30 pm.
