WBCS prelims result 2017 declared at www.pscwb.org.in

The results of West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) 2017 preliminary examination have been declared. Candidates can access their WBCS result 2017 at www.pscwb.org.in. The results were released on Wednesday evening and 7,922 candidates have been declared successful to appear for mains exam.

The Public Service Commission, West Bengal (PSCWB) had conducted the preliminary written test on January 29 earlier this year for the recruitment to West Bengal Civil Services (Exe.) ETC. The test will also facilitate recruitment to other services and posts. The exam was conducted at 19 places and lakhs of candidates appeared for the same.

The online applications for the recruitment drive had started from November 04, 2016 and had ended on December 12, 2016 after an extension of 7 days.

In the press note issued which also contains the list of roll numbers of successful candidates, the Commission noted that a total of 7,922 candidates have been shortlisted to appear for the mains exam, on the basis of preliminary written exam results. The candidates can view the WBCS preliminary results pdf here to check if they’ve qualified or not.

The WBCS preliminary exam carried a total of 200 marks and 200 questions were asked in the paper. Test duration was 150 minutes and was based on graduation level education.

The Commission holds the authority to set the minimum qualifying marks which are necessary to attain in the exam to proceed to next phase of selection process.

Quick Note: After opening the result PDF, press CTRL+F (in laptop/desktop) or run search in your mobile phone, then type your roll number correctly. If your roll number is present in the merit list, it will match the search.

Selection process ahead

  • The selection process in WBCS consists of two parts; 1. Written exam, 2. personality test.
  • The Part 1 then consists of preliminary test and mains exam and part 2.
  • The candidates who qualified prelims exam will have to appear for the mains exam and further, only the candidates who will qualify the mains exam will be called for personality test.
  • The candidates then also have to appear before a medical board for certificates of their fitness for government service, as has also been mentioned in the official notification.
