Back in 2015, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) had introduced the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for the students who took admission that year and every year after. However, the University had then kept the old evaluation system on for students submitted to it’s affiliated colleges before 2015.
However, in a press release issued here on April 2nd, VTU has announced that from now on, the students who are studying under old scheme (admitted to VTU on/before 2015-16), and are seeking admission/readmission to onward of third semester would have to study under CBCS scheme only.
Moreover, the marks obtained by these students in their prior semesters would be converted in the equivalent grades and the grade cards would be issued to these candidates by the VTU.
Ever since VTU implemented the CBCS system, students have been crying foul and mostly due to the varsity’s inability to clear their doubts. You can view the notice regarding “change to CBCS scheme” at the official website of (www.vtu.ac.in here) but the notice surely doesn’t specify everything to clear students’ doubts. It is advisable to contact your college to clear up things on the issue.
The change of scheme is not the only problem students of VTU are burdened with because the bigger issue at hand seems to be the never-ending delay in results by the VTU. The University had conducted the regular odd semester examinations back in December 2016- January 2017 and the results aren’t out yet. Neither the dates haven’t been notified nor VTU has addressed the issue in open.
So far, only the results of crash course of students submitted to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester are declared and 5th & 6th semester crash course remains to be published. The crash course results of 1st to 4th semester students were released more than a week ago and about the 5th/6th semester results, the varsity keeps saying that ‘will be out soon’.
Now, like previous years, many of the candidates are facing problems due to the delay in publication of results. Some are on the deadline to submit their final year’s marks sheet to the company they’ve just joined for internships and else, and many of the students from lower semesters don’t know whether to attend the next semester’s classes or not. The even semester session had begun on 13th February, 2017.
When asked on when VTU results would be declared, one VTU official (we contacted via phone) declined to comment on the topic. That further cements the theory that results of odd semester examinations may not be out as soon we had expected.
This week (April 3rd-9th), we will surely witness the declaration of results of students admitted to extricating/crash course 5th & 6th semester, but there is no update on the fate of results for odd semester B.E. results of 3rd, 5th and 7th semester exams.
The chances of VTU results today are likely but nothing is confirmed. In case the results are out or any new piece of information, you’ll be informed here first. You can also like our Facebook page for fast updates.
