VIT University, or formerly known as Vellore Institute of Technology, has commenced the counselling for admission to the current academic year. The counselling started yesterday (May 10). Candidates will be called according to their rank and will be held in a single window mode for all the B. tech courses.
- The counselling session will take place in two rounds. For VITEEE counselling round one, the candidates with rank from 1 to 20,000 have to report to any of the four VIT campuses from May 10, 2017, to May 12, 2017.
- From May 15, 2017, to May 22, 2017, round two counselling session will be there for candidates holding ranks in the range of 20,000 to 99,999.
The admission committee has shortlisted the ranks according to the All India Rank (AIR). During the counselling sessions the shortlisted candidates will be allocated seats on the basis of their merit rank, preference of course and campus and on the availability of seats. During the counselling sessions, students must carry all the required documents along for the purpose of verification. Candidates are allowed to attend counselling only once.

For phase one, candidates ranking from 1 to 8000 will have their counselling on May 10, 2017, whereas for 8000 to 14000 and 14000 to 20000 rank will have their counselling on May 11, 2017, and May 12, 2017, respectively.
For phase two, candidates ranking from 20001 to 25000 will have their counselling on May 15, 2017, whereas for 25001 to 40000 and 40001 to 55000 rank will have their counselling on May 16, 2017, and May 17, 2017, respectively. For candidates with rank 55001 to 70000, 70001 to 85000, 85001 to 99999 will have their counselling session on May 18, 2017, May 19, 2017, and May 20, 2017, respectively.
Eligibility for the counselling session
Rank holders from 1 to 9999 can only participate in these sessions whereas the one above that are not eligible for the counselling at Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal (MP) and Amravati (AP) campuses, however, candidates with rank up to 1, 50,000 will be eligible for counselling in Bhopal only, for which the dates will be announced later on.
First of all, students should stay notified of the dates and the venue of the VITEEE counselling session. Candidates are shortlisted so be there on the date of your counselling as if you miss it the next deserving candidate will get the preference first. As the admit cards are mailed to the candidates they must get a print of it and produce it during the time of their session. It is very important that candidates report the venue for registration and select the branch and campus on the basis of availability. The candidates are required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs. 50, 000/- in favour of ‘VIT University’ payable at Vellore, after their seat is confirmed and the branch is allotted. In this amount Rs. 12,000/- is considered as counselling fees, which will be adjusted as a tuition fee once the candidate joins the university. Parents should accompany the student while counselling after each round of counselling procedures completed, the university will publish a list of the availability of seats in each course and campus. As this will help the candidates to know about the available courses, in which they can seek admission.
