In a joint meeting of various officials of Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Vice-Chancellor of UPTU, Vinay Pathak decided to introduce this scheme beginning from next academic session. Various methods of improving the education standards were discussed in the meeting conducted recently. The officials think that improving the standards of the education in UPTU affiliated colleges will also help in development of students in different fields.
With the aim to prevent the colleges to put fake advertisement in so as to attract students to their colleges, the board members has decided to introduce ranking system to the colleges. Introducing this scheme will help a lot of students in understanding the education standards of any particular colleges and will also help in to take admission in the best suitable colleges which would help them to develop in future.
As per an official statement, the UPTU colleges will be ranked on various aspects. However the important aspects which would be kept in mind while ranking particular institute are – placement records of the particular college, extracurricular activities conducted in the college, quality of education, availability of sufficient staff and qualified professors and above all the availability of diverse infrastructure.
When asked to give opinion about the introduction of ranking system in the colleges, Vice Chancellor of UPTU, Vinay Pathak said, “The UPTU has notified several regulations with the objective of sustenance and improvement in the quality of higher education and for undertaking academic reforms”. He also mentioned that the students who are currently studying under UPTU and professors from all the colleges are invited to bring up their views and suggestions which might help in to improve the education quality of the UPTU colleges. Adding to his speech he stated that the overall ranking will be done after receiving feedback from the students and professors.
A team has already been formed to monitor the ranking system of the colleges. After the completion of ranking the colleges, it will be uploaded in the official website UPTU. Also the ranking provided to the colleges will change each year depending on the various aspects mentioned above.
It is believed that the ranking system has been introduced owing to the fact of recent downfall in admission in the current session. As per the latest news there are almost over 40 percent of seats still remain vacant after the completion of the counseling rounds. Thus introducing this scheme will help students to judge colleges based on the ranking.
