The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the result of it’s civil services mains examination 2016-2017 on Tuesday evening. On the basis of UPSC mains result 2016, the list of candidates shortlisted for personality test has been published, the commission said in a press note.
UPSC had conducted the IAS mains/civil services mains examination from December 3rd to 9th, 2016. A total of 15,445 candidates had qualified the prelims exam when the results were published out of more than 6 lakh who had wrote the prelims exam. According to reports, 11.34 lakh aspirants had registered for civil services 2016 recruitment process. Even less than 1 percent had qualified for the mains exam.
Coming to the mains exam, Out of the 15 thousand who took the exam, only 2,961 candidates have made it to the next round i.e., interviews/personality test. The final vacancies to be filled through this recruitment process is said to be 1,079 (might vary a bit as solid data lacks on this). UPSC holds the exams for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other Central Services (Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’).
The list of roll numbers of candidates who have qualified to appear for personality test has been published on the official website. UPSC IAS mains result and the merit list can be found here at www.upsc.gov.in. Candidates will have to look out if their roll number is in the list. To do that, open the PDF, press Control+F and type your roll number to search.
The press note also says that the result of 03 candidates with roll numbers (0000432, 0010513, 0659780) has been kept withheld subject to the outcome of the Court Case.
The personality test will likely commence from March 20th, 2017 and the shortlisted candidates have to present the original documents to get their eligibility verified. The original documents proving your claim on matters pertaining to age, educational qualifications, community and physical handicap should be brought at the time of personality test. Other necessary documents such as Questionnaire, Attestation Form and TA Form, etc. are also to be presented.
Candidates should keep track of the official website (www.upsc.gov.in) for the date and time for their personality test. The personality tests would be held at UPSC office in Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. Note: Candidates would not be notified individually about the schedule of test, so, watch out for any notice at website regarding the same. No paper summons would be dispatched to the mains qualified candidates.

Note on 2017 exam: UPSC had, in October 2016, notified that the civil services 2017-18 exam would be held on June 18th, 2017. The notification for 2017 exam is expected to come today or tomorrow. UPSC had set the date of release for IAS 2017 exam notification as February 22nd, 2017.
