UPSC announced IAS pre-2016 results: list of qualified candidates

The result of UPSC IAS pre 2016 examination has been published on today with the list of shortlisted candidates who will now head to appear for the mains examination. Report reveals that the result of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) IAS prelims 2016 exam held on August 7 are speculated to be announced around September 26. UPSC will announce the results of it’s Indian Administrative Services (IAS) prelims examination 2016 in the last week of September. UPSC conducted the Civil Services Preliminary exam on August 7, 2016 for which over 11.36 lakh candidates had applied. While there is no exact confirmation on the UPSC IAS Prelims result declaration, it can be concluded that the results shall be declared on or before September 26, considering the past few years stats.

UPSCUPSC had, last year, conducted the Civil Services Preliminary exam on August 23, 2015 and published the results on October 12. This was the shortest time duration (within 50 days) that the Commission took in announcing the results. The year before, in 2014, the result of UPSC IAS Prelims exam was announced in 51 days. Considering these figures, it is safe to say on our part that IAS Prelims result might get announced on or before September 26 (Monday).

Civil Services or IAS exam is undoubtedly the toughest exam where the success rate is as low as 0.1-0.3 percent. While the exact data related to the actual number of candidates that took the test this year is not available, preliminary reports suggest that only around 50 percent of the 11.36 lakh applicants actually appeared for the exam. Whatever the number of candidates had been, all of them are currently waiting for the announcement of IAS Prelims result. While some of the confident candidates who have taken the help of the unofficial answer keys have started preparing for the Mains exam, some are just taking the time before the results announcement as the relaxing period.

UPSC has recently uploaded the question papers on its official site and it is expected that the official answer keys would be out soon. As the exam was held on August 7, many leading coaching institutes/learning centres released the answer keys prepared by their experts to help the candidates.

The Civil Services Examination 2016 has been conducted to fill a total of 1,079 administrative posts that includes posts in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service among others.
