Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the notification for it’s Civil Services IAS 2017 examination. The preliminary exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 18th. It will be for the first time 3 years that UPSC will hold civil services prelims exam in June, preponing it from the commission’s usual schedule of August.
The process to fill the application form has commenced today, on February 22nd and will end on March 17th, 2017 (6 pm). The candidates can apply online at the official websites www.upsc.gov.in or www.upsconline.nic.in with the stipulated time.
The tentative number of vacancies is 980 which also includes 27 vacancies reserved for P.H. Category, i.e. 07 vacancies for LDCP, 08 Vacancies for B/LV and 12 Vacancies for H.I.
The whole recruitment process consists of two successive stages, firstly the prelims exam and then the mains. Those who qualify the prelims test (also called screening test) have to appear for the mains exam. Candidates qualifying the mains exam too are then shortlisted to appear for the personality test. The preliminary exam will be of objective type, having 400 marks. The mains exam is conducted in written mode and is of descriptive type.
Earlier today, UPSC announced the mains exam 2016 results and only around 3 thousand were shortlisted for the personality tests.
