UPSC CDS 1 result 2017: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) on February 5 earlier this year and the results for the same have been announced, per a release from Press Information Bureau (PIB) India.

Our friends at Aglasem.com took notice of the update first yesterday when they found a notification regarding the CDS results declaration at PIB website and also found the PDF containing the roll numbers of shortlisted candidates.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) itself has not shed any light on the matter when ExamsWatch staff contacted the offices of UPSC. The official on the phone said that they didn’t have any knowledge of the issue. However, for candidates’ concern, the notice PIB put up at it’s website was pulled off some time later but you can still view the PDF of the results/merit list here.

The notification for UPSC CDS 1 exam 2017 was issued back in November 2016 and the applications were submitted till December 10, 2016. This written examination on February 5 was conducted to recruit candidates to 463 seats in various departments of Defense Academies including Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala; Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai for the courses commencing in January, 2018.

Estimates are that over 3-4 lakh candidates take the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination each time and the test is held two times a year.

The results were, originally, not be announced till April-end considering that in 2016, CDS 1 was conducted on Feb 14 and results were published on May 3rd. But what do you know! a mix-up keeps happening every now and then.

The PDF file that has been uploaded at PIB website shows that a total of 8,548 candidates have qualified the UPSC CDS 1 2017 written examination to proceed to the next phase of this recruitment process.

ExamsWatch’s take: The PIB uploaded a notice on it’s website regarding CDS result 2017, it’s true and there’s evident of that. You can refer to the report by Aglasem. And furthermore, PIB removed the notice but not the result PDF containing roll numbers of successful candidates. If this was just a glitch, PIB would’ve taken the PDF down too and would have notified about the matter. And PIB is a government agency, so there should be no doubt about the authenticity of the result. After all, PIB is the home centre for the press information for all the government recruitment process being The Press Information Bureau.

We think UPSC itself will address the issue today since ultimately it is the body that organises the exam and handles all relevant proceedings. Candidates at several online forums are going crazy to hear this much, that results are out but not by UPSC. Expect any official notice from UPSC today about the topic which could be anything.

The same thing happened at the time of RRB NTPC results when RRB Thiruvananthapuram declared the results and then withdrew the info from it’s website. However the info was correct and RRB had then said that it was testing it’s website. So, candidates here don’t need to freak out or anything, I personally believe, the results hold authenticity and UPSC will now have to upload the same at it’s website since news has gone public. It’s there and it is credible.

We’ll update here once there is more. We have also sent mails to the officials at the UPSC and PIB offices asking for the verification of news.
