UPSC CDS 1 2017 application closing in 4 days

The online applications for UPSC CDS 1 2017 can be filled up to December 2, 2016 (till 6 pm), after which the ‘apply online’ will be disabled. Close to 5 lakh aspirants take the first edition of Combined Defence Services Examination every year. With less than 4 days in closure of online application process, the eligible candidates still have a final chance to submit online applications at upsconline.nic.in.

Union Public Service Commission had notified on November 9 that CDS (I) 2017 would be administered on February 5, 2017. The CDS exam aims to shortlist eligible candidates for admission in 463 seats across four institutions – Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala; Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai. The selection process into these academies include a written exam and an intelligence & personality test.

The UPSC invites applications and conducts the written exam. The candidates scoring merit position in the written exam are then recommended by the Commission to the Service Selection Board for final selection.

As the online application portal would stand closed on December 2, 2016 at 6.00 pm, the aspirants have less than 4 complete days to appy for UPSC CDS 2017 exam. The general category and OBC candidates are required to pay Rs. 200 as exam fee, while female/SC/ST candidates have been exempted from paying any fee. The exam fee can be paid through cash or online mode. The cash payment option would be closed at 11.59 pm on December 1 and only those candidates who have generated their Pay-in slip before the option is closed may pay the fee at counter of SBI Branch. Such candidates can pay the fee during banking hours on December 2. The payment option remains open for candidates opting online payment mode through Debit/Credit card or internet banking.

CDS 2017 exam would be held on February 5, 2017 across 41 cities. While the exam for Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy consists of three papers – English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics, the exam for OTA includes only first two papers. Each paper carries weightage of 100 marks.
