CBSE UGC NET July 2016: news on answer key and results

The answer keys for UGC NET/ CBSE NET July 2016 is out for paper 1, set A while official answer keys and OMR sheets will be released in August by the board.

CBSE conducted the UGC NET July 2016 examination on July 10 in 88 cities and over 1000 examination centers across the country as the exam was postponed in Srinagar city. Around 7.5 lakh candidates had registered for the test and have now taken the test as per their subject. The test covers 83 subjects in total.

CBSE NET consisted of three papers, with total 185 questions out of which candidates had to answer 175 questions. Paper 1 comprised of questions designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidates and had 60 multiple choice questions, out of which candidates had to attempt 50. Paper 2 consisted of 50 objective type compulsory question based on the respective subject selected by the candidate. Paper 3 of CBSE NET had 75 objective type compulsory questions from selected subject. All the questions in Paper 1, 2 & 3 were of 2 marks each, so the total maximum marks for the test are 350.

The Board will prepare a merit list subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers. Candidates are required to score minimum 40 percent marks (40) in Paper 1 & 2 and 50 percent marks (75) in Paper 3 to be considered for the award of Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility of Assistant Professor. The above-mentioned qualifying marks are for general category candidates, the same for other candidates remain at 35 percent (35 marks) and 40 percent (60 marks). Top 15 percent candidates (for each subject and category) will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor. The Board will also publish a separate merit list for the award of JRF from the list of NET qualified candidates.

In the previous NET exam held on December 27, 2015, CBSE released the UGC NET answer key along with OMR answer sheets of the candidates after a long pause of 37 days, on February 2. It is expected that the CBSE NET answer key of exam held on July 10, 2016, will be released only by next month. The latest information will be provided at the official website as we will also update the information here.

What to do once NET answer key is released?

As CBSE will publish NET July 2016 answer key along with the OMR response sheets of the candidates, candidates will be able to put forward the objections thus found in the answer key released by the Board. For submitting the objection, the candidates will get one week time, after which the Board will go through all the submitted objections and will release final answer key. It may take another month for the Board to come up with the final answer key and the NET answer key (final) will be updated at the official site cbsenet.nic.in separately for all three papers.
