All over India, many candidates dream to complete the PhD and M.Phil courses but are unable to manage due to the working schedule. Keeping this in mind, the University Grants Commission (UGC) allows the distance education institutes to conduct the PhD and M.Phil courses. Over 10,000 students would acknowledge the benefits due to this procedure, as they would get the opportunity to pursue their higher studies.
Ved Prakash, UGC Commissioner revealed, “The commission is taking a considerate view of the matter and it will be placed in the next committee meeting.”After a long time protest from the faculties of the institutes UGC finally decided to lift up the ban on 2011 benefiting the career of manifold aspiring students. But due to the unavailability of official notification the matter got delayed up to 4 years. According the UGC faculty the delay has resulted to serious irregularities altering the IGNOU Act. A letter from the IGNOU teachers’ association divulges, “The suppression of this notification is ruining the career of a large number of students for which you should feel accountable. This is an act of utter insensitivity on the part of UGC.”
The institutes that would offer the courses need to follow the UGC rules and regulations ensuring that the entire system is executed properly. Therefore, at the end many students can start a new episode in their life completion the course making their dreams come true. Although in 2011, UGC eliminated the ban but it was instructed that the principal guidelines would be followed as per the norms of the Open University. Even it’s said that the institutes that would meet the particular standard would be allowed to offer the courses. This incident gave rise to serious confusion and the career of many students came to an end after such decision.
Finally, UGC decided to put relaxation on the laws that would enable the institutes to carry out the courses without any intricacies. Hence, now you can easily enroll yourself for the PhD or M.Phil courses under distance mode.
