TS POLYCET results will be declared today on May 6 along with the ranks for the polytechnic entrance test. The declaration of result of Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) in Telangana will commence the admission process to the polytechnic/diploma colleges in the state.

The test was conducted by the Telangana State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) on April 22 in a single shift. As much as 1,28,889 candidates had taken the test which was conducted at 390 test venues.

For admissions in around 53,470 seats in 58 government and 149 private polytechnics (Aided/ Private/ 2nd shift), around 1.3 lakh applications were received by the Board. The online applications for TS POLYCET 2017 were filled from March 14 to April 11 and the exam was conducted on April 22. After the conclusion of the exam, the answer keys were released by Sakshi Education so that the students could assess their performance in the test.

The entrance test consisted of three subjects carrying total 120 marks. The students scoring 30 percent marks (36 or above marks) in the POLYCET will be declared qualified and will be awarded ranks. However, there is no minimum passing marks criteria for SC/ ST students and they will be awarded ranks irrespective of their marks.

Web-based counselling and seat allotment process will be carried out after the declaration of TS Polycet result. The qualified students will have to report to the counselling venues for certificate verification and option entry. The detailed schedule will be announced after the declaration of Polycet result. As the SSC results have already been announced, it is expected that the counselling would commence soon.

As TS Polycet results are going to be announced on May 6, the students will get to know their result and Polycet ranks through the official website (polycetts.nic.in) or from the nearby polytechnic institute. The admission process will be managed by the SBTET based on the Polycet rank list. The merit list/ rank list will be prepared based on the marks scored by the students in the Polycet.

Out of the 53,470 seats available in the polytechnic diploma courses, 85% seats in Government/ Aided Polytechnic/ Institute will be filled by the candidates belonging to Osmania University area and the remaining 15 percent unreserved seats will be available for both local & non-local candidates depending on POLYCET rank.

The official brochure of TS Polycet 2017 mentions that the 85 percent of the seats in each State-wide institution/ course will be filled by the candidates belonging to the three University areas namely Andhra University area, Osmania University area, and Sri Venkateswara University area in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively and the balance 15 percent as unreserved.

The meritorious students securing highest marks in Polycet will also be eligible for Pratibha Awards, under which they will be awarded a Merit Certificate, Momento, and a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 per annum for the entire duration of the course.
