The written exam under the common recruitment process for the posts of Police Constables, Jail Warders and Fireman has been conducted today on May 21 by TNUSRB at across 410 test centres. Considering the reports, around 10 lakh applications were sold for some odd 15.5 thousand posts, but only 6.32 lakh filled applications were received by the Board. As the exam is now over, TNUSRB will provide the answer keys of the exam shortly which will also be updated here.
There is a severe dearth of police personnel in Tamil Nadu and to bridge the gap, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) had rolled out the notification for filling Grade II Police Constable, Gr. II Jail Warders and Firemen posts in January. The applications were filled from January 23 to February 22 and the Stage I (written exam) has been conducted today.
The notified posts under the recruitment process include 15,664 fresh vacancies and 47 backlog vacancies, taking the total to 15,711. The vacancies are distributed as 13,137 (+46 backlog) for Police Constable, 1,015 (+1 backlog) for Jail Warders and 1,512 Fireman posts. Over 1.5 lakh women and at least 50 transgenders have applied for the posts as the entry of Transgenders were opened for the first time in Tamil Nadu Police Department.

TNUSRB is expected to publish Police Constable exam answer key/ paper solution in a week, the same will be available at the official portal www.tnusrbonline.org. Once the answer key (official or unofficial) is published, it will be updated here too.
The selection process is divided into two stages: Stage I being the written exam and Stage II comprising of Physical Measurement Test, Endurance Test and Physical Efficiency Test. The written exam carries 80 marks and all the applicants were issued the hall tickets to take the written exam. The question paper was divided into two sections: General Knowledge having 50 marks and Psychology of 30 marks. The candidates were given 80 minutes to solve the question paper. Based on the performance in the written exam, as much as 78,555 candidates will be called for Stage II selection process.
The Stage II will carry 15 marks, while 5 marks (special marks) will be awarded to the candidates for participation in NCC/ NSS/ Games/ Sports. The final selection will be done through the merit list drawn out of total 100 marks – 80 marks of written exam, 15 marks of PET/PMT and 5 special marks.
