Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, abbreviated as TNAU has published overall rank list along with the rank list for vocational courses, differently-abled, sports quota admissions. Candidates can access their own rank from official portal www.tnauonline.in for which they will have to use their registration number. The rank list for NRI and Industrial sponsor will be released on June 22.
TNAU had invited online applications from interested students (from May 12 to June 11, 2016) for admission in undergraduate courses offered at its 14 constituent colleges. The courses along with seats for which TNAU is going to organise counselling from June 27 are :
- 600 seats in B.Sc. (Agriculture)
- 125 seats in B.Sc. (Horticulture)
- 45 seats in B.Sc. (Forestry)
- 45 seats in B.Sc. (Food Science & Nutrition)
- 70 seats in B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering)
- 30 seats in B.Sc. (Sericulture)
- 30 seats in B.Tech (Horticulture)
- 55 seats in B.Tech (Food Process Engineering)
- 55 seats in B.Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering)
- 55 seats in B.Tech (Biotechnology)
- 35 seats in B.Tech (Bio-Informatics)
- 45 seats in B.S. (Agri-Business Management)
- 30 seats in B.Tech (Agricultural Information Technology)
Candidates will be intimated about the date, time and venue for counselling through registered e-mail ID and mobile number. If selected for counselling, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs 2000 (Rs 1000 for SC/SCA/ST category candidates) through online mode of payment to generate their respective counselling letter.
Candidates are needed to produce certain documents including 12th Marksheet, 10th Marksheet / Birth Certificate, Counselling letter along with others at the time of counselling.
TNAU has been rated as the best agricultural university in India by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). TNAU was established in 1971, offering four-year B.Sc. (Agriculture) program with other courses being added in following years. Currently, TNAU offers 13 undergraduate degree courses, 40 postgraduate courses and 26 doctoral programs.
A total of 36,322 students had applied for admission for the academic session 2016-17 and now they are eligible to participate in the counselling as per their merit. S. Dhenneshwar, a resident of Tiruchengode taluk in Namakkal district has been ranked as number 1 with aggregate 199.75 marks. Out of 32,619 students ranked in overall rank list, 30,978 candidates have got rank in Maths while 32,226 Bio Rank.
Counselling for TNAU admissions will kick start on June 27 while general category candidates will be called for counselling from July 4 to 10. Second phase of counselling will be done from July 25 to 28. Counselling for vocational stream will be done on July 13. If the seats still remain empty, the university will conduct third phase of counselling from August 8 to 11 and the admission process would thereby end on August 31.
