Presently in the Indian scenario, employability is a greater problem than unemployment because there are ‘n’ number of youths who lack in skills. So to promote apprenticeship in the country, TeamLease Skills University has signed MoU with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. With the help of this association, a balance between education, employment and employability will be created. This will automatically help the youth of the country to have access to profitable employment opportunities.
TeamLease Skills University is a private university located in Tarsali, Vadodara, Gujarat. It is the first fully vocational education and training university in India. Under the National Employability through Apprentice Program (NETAP), TeamLease Skill University will make sure that they will help the government in the long run in creating more beginners and employers into the fold of apprenticeship programmes.
As per the memorandum signed, NETAP is planning to give opportunities by engaging somewhere around 5 lakh apprentices in next three years and expand the NETAP scheme to include over 2,000 new employers. Even the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship will give permit to TeamLease Skill University’s NETAP program to prepare their curriculum for the training of apprentices. The employers who are participating in the NETAP program will be able to set the exact number of apprentices required, thereby paving way for greater employer participation in the long run. The participating NETAP Partners covers more than 26 high growth functions/industries for duration of six to twenty four months.
Eligibility: As it is a comprehensive programme so all diploma holders, vocation education or vocational training certificate holder (ITIBSE 0.16 %) and standard VIII pass outs as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 are eligible.
Benefits offered: The apprentices will be offered a golden chance to choose the apprenticeship for themselves at any of the TeamLease NETAP partners of their choice. The trainees will not only be offered job training, they will also receive 200 hours access to the cloud campus of TeamLease Skills University for English, soft skills and basic computers development along with it. They will also receive a stipend equal to minimum wages for unskilled employees as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, union minister of state skill development and entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, mentioned in a release, “The partnership is in sync with the Prime Minister’s Skill India initiative. The association with NETAP will offer another platform to the youth of our nation to become employable by undergoing apprenticeships and acquiring practical skills of doing a job. It will also address the need of the industry to have skilled people.”
