Looks like there is some good news for AAP ahead of elections in Punjab. The Aam Aadmi Party, led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal might win around 100 seats in Punjab. It was found out in a survey which was conducted recently by HuffPost C voter. AAP is becoming popular day-by-day and they will continue in the same way as they did in Delhi, survey claims.
AAP might win approximately 97-100 seats in the 113-member state assembly. The party’s national convenor is seen to be the most preferred candidate for Chief Minister post and more than 59% of the population wishes to see him in power, as someone who will be leading their state. The projected number of seats have gone up from 83-89, which was the projection made by the CVoter poll in April, last year. The survey also said that around 48% of them would vote for AAP, had they conducted the election today.
The factors like anti-incumbency, unemployment, drug abuse are the main reasons that a majority of the population want to change the government in Punjab. They are considering Arvind Kejriwal as their first choice and then Captain Amarinder as their second choice.
Besides that, 38% of the people felt that Capt Amarinder Singh would be a better Chief Minister to lead the state. Capt Amarinder Singh of Congress has emerged as the number two after AAP leader. Congress is expected to win around 8-14 seats.
Also, people believe that if Arvind Kejriwal is not projected as the Chief Minister, then they will have to change their preference. Bhagwant Mann, one of the prominent leaders of the AAP in Punjab, is no more seen as the choice. He has received a mixed reaction from the public. But, as the kind of crowd that is being attracted by Arvind Kejriwal, there is a fair chance that they will surely make an impact in the state.
The Assembly elections are going to be conducted in January-February, 2017. The current Chief Minister of the state is Prakash Singh Badal and has been ruling the state for the past 10 years. The voters now seem to be unsatisfied from him and hence it is highly anticipated that a political change would be seen in the state.
