SSC CGL: The result of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) CGL 2016 tier 1 exam (pre) is out with with-cut off marks. The details of SSC CGL result 2016 have been uploaded on www.ssc.nic.in with an official write-up and link to check results.
A total of 149,319 candidates have qualified the SSC CGL tier 1 result 2016. The cut off has also been outed and as I said earlier it’s as high as 137. This time, SSC released the results on scheduled date.
What’s changed in CGL 2016
The advertisement for the CGL 2016 was issued on February 2nd, 2016 and the exams were conducted in online mode between August 27 to September 11 after the revised scheme. According to the revised scheme, tier 1 will be treated as qualifying only (kind of screening test, those who will qualify will head to next tiers and their tier 1 marks will then be taken into final merit) and tier 2 will also be computer based. The same notice also stated that exam would carry 100 questions, 200 marks and test duration of 75 minutes. In addition to many things happening first time in CGL-2016, the Commission also introduced a tier-III exam (descriptive paper of Hindi/English) which will be held in pen and paper mode. And then there will be Tier-IV which will be Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)/Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). But that’s too far fetched and for those who’ll be clearing tier 1 today, tier 2 is next. The must know details and preparation guide to tier 2 exam will be updated tomorrow.
CGL tier 2 is bound to be conducted from November 30 to December 2nd, 2016. The call letters to tier 1 qualified candidates to appear for tier 2 exam will be issued in about a week from now. Also, tier 3 exam is scheduled to take place on January 15 and tier 4 from 17 January to 17 February, 2017.
The final merit for CGL 2016 will be prepared on the basis of overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off.
According to an detailed analysis by SSC Adda, the cut off for tier 1 exam is expected to be somewhere between 112-122 marks. The analysis took around 15 thousand candidates’ responses into account while predicting the cut-off. I’ve discussed that in detail over here.
But, I’ve hear today that cut-offs may go as high as 130-132. Anyway, we’ll know tonight when the results come.
A re-exam was also held on October 27 for one shift of August 27 exam. The answer keys for all shifts were already released.
According to data received from SSC, a total of 38.04 lakh candidates had applied for the exam while only 14.99 lakh actually sat for the same.
It’s uncertain as of now whether SSC will upload the results in traditional merit list (list of shortlisted candidates) method or will opt individual result mode, more like IBPS where candidates see their result after logging into their account.
Candidates can check their results here now in the merit list for CGL 2016 if the ssc.nic.in doesn’t work.
