The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is on the verge of making the Combined Higher Secondary Examination (CHSL) exam online in 2016.
SSC is organising the CHSL 2016 exam September and October this year tentatively. The official notice of SSC CHSL 2016 which was initially scheduled to be published three weeks back, has not yet been published and should be out in the next week, a recent notice from SSC hints.
SSC released a notice on July 27 that mentions “The Notice of the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, 2016 was scheduled to be published on 2nd July, 2016. However, the Commission proposes to conduct the exam in the Computer Based Examination Mode, for which modalities are being finalised.” It was evident from earlier reports that the SSC is considering online examination for the recruitment under CHSL exam and the same has been confirmed from the Commission now. The notice released yesterday went on saying “Immediately after completion of the necessary formalities the Commission would upload the Notice on the Website of the Commission as well as its Regional Offices.”
As per the SSC calendar of examination (tentative schedule), the advertisement of SSC CHSL 2016 exam was to be published on 2nd July 2016, and the application process to be ended by 1st August. The tentative schedule also mentions the CHSL 2016 exam dates as 25 September, 9 & 16 October, 2016. With the official notice yet to be published, the dates would definitely be pushed forward. SSC has been trying to implement online examinations to bring in more transparency and also reduce the time taken in completing its recruitment processes. Usually, one recruitment completion takes more than a year to get completed as the exam is conducted after around 4-5 months once the advertisement is published, followed with another 6-7 months in declaration of results and then the second phase of selection process takes another 2-3 months till the final result is announced.
As the CHSL exam is open for the candidates having Class 12 qualification, around 2 million candidates apply for it. The candidates are then shortlisted for the Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), Postal Assistant & Sorting Assistant (PA/SA) posts based on their preference. SSC had been conducting this exam on offline mode, but now the Commission is considering the Computer based examination to cut short the recruitment process duration.
With the publication of notice on the delay of SSC CHSL 2016 advertisement, it may be assumed that the advertisement should be out in the first week of August, however, the Commission has not revealed any exact date for the same. The official notification would be published in the official site of the Commission, www.ssc.nic.in and also in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar.
