SSC CGL Tier 1 exam : Question paper analysis and expected cut off marks

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) organizes Combined Graduated Level (CGL) exam every year to fill up various empty positions across the nation. Ever year lakhs of job aspirants appear for this exam. Similarly, this year SSC CGL Tier I exam was held on August 9 in two phases starting from 10 am. The pattern of SSC CGL Tier I was similar to that of the exam conducted last year. Though many consider this year exam was a little bit easy as compared to other years whereas many thinks that Tier I was quite tough. SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2015 : Paper Analysis

SSC CGL Tier I consists of four papers – Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, General Awareness. All four papers consist total 200 multiple choices questions. Each right answer would fetch the candidate marks while four wrong questions will lead to negative marking. Thus, it is very important for candidates to go only for those questions, which they are sure of. Overall paper was moderate but it was based on to test the mental ability of a candidate.

Quantitative Aptitude paper analysis

The main topics covered in this section were trigonometry, algebra, geometry etc. This portion of the paper varies in various respects. Some topics were difficult while some questions can be done in a single step. For example, the questions from Data Interpretation section of quantitative aptitude were simple calculation based. English section :

The questions included in the topic were from Vocabulary and Grammar. Mostly antonyms, synonyms, one word answers and from grammar section candidates had to answer sentence correction, spotting errors. It was easy paper compare to other papers but the candidates from vernacular medium faces a bit difficulty. The following details below shows which topic carry how much marks.

Expected Cutoff marks for SSC CGL Tier 1 exam

100-105 is considered to be expected cutoff for general category candidates. The exam is going to be conducted for the second time on 16 August as per the schedule and as per the latest news coming, SSC will re-conduct the exam of 9 August for few candidates who were provided with wrong question papers.
