Spiritual leader announces funding for 1 lakh girl students in Andhra Pradesh

A remarkable initiative has been taken by renowned spiritual leader Guruvanand Swami Gurudev of Brahmrishi Ashram who has announced to fund the high school education of one lakh girl students. Terming it as a ‘gift’ to new Andhra Pradesh, the spiritual leader has added that this initiative on his part would be launched from Ramachandrapuram Mandal near Tirupati, which is the founding place of his ashram. This launch would be immediately be followed by places like Chittoor and Kuppam Mandals.

This extraordinary step by a spiritual saint is being lauded by many, given that a saint of his stature himself holds inspiring academic distinctions. Gurauvand Swami is a holder of various degrees that include M.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur; Ph.D in Astrology; and Masters in Sanskrit, Vedas, and Jyotish. He had also served as an Honorary Principal and professor at several academic institutions, most famous amongst them Banaras Hindu University.

The initiative is said to have drawn stimulus from the Prime Minister’s ‘Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao‘ slogan and amidst the encouragement from the leading slogan, the spiritual leader has divulged more details about his plans. The leader says that it would not just be the state of Andhra Pradesh that would be covered; funds would be extended to other states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, from where reports of female literacy levels are low.

The scheme would only be launched after consultation with the District Educational Officer. It would be launched in nine high schools of Ramachandrapuram Mandal where 380 girl students of IX and X standards and 750 students from VI and VII standards would benefit from the scheme. The scheme would cover not just the fees of these students but the basic stationary like geometry box, uniform and study material too. While addressing the media, he revealed that he plans to promote the principle of TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More). Moreover, the effort is said to have been supported by the likes of philanthropists, educationists, and policymakers. The Ashram already indulges in funding the education of both boys and girls from first to fifth standard.

Where many sages hardly left their spiritual grounds, Guruvanand Swami chose to be amongst people after attaining the ultimate state of spirituality so that people could benefit from his spiritual powers. He says that he wants to elevate the lives of millions of people through his divine power and spread the message of awareness, tolerance and service to humanity.
