South Indian Bank recruitment exam 2017 announced to fill 537 PO, clerk vacancies

South Indian Bank clerk PO recruitment 2017South Indian Bank (SIB) has initiated the recruitment process to fill Probationary Officers and Probationary Clerks posts. Two separate notifications were released by the Bank for the same and the application process commenced on 19 January. There are 201 vacancies for PO posts and 336 Clerk posts on offer. While the PO vacancies will be filled on Pan-India basis, the Clerk vacancies are region based with 210 vacancies earmarked for Kerala, 70 for Tamil Nadu, 30 for Delhi-NCR and 26 for Karnataka.

The candidates can apply for both the posts as the Bank would organize the online recruitment test on different dates. The test is tentatively scheduled to be held in February.

The eligibility criteria for PO posts:

  • Minimum 60 percent marks in Class X, XII and Graduation.
  • The candidate’s age should not be more than 25 years as on 31.12.2016 (should be born on or after 01.01.1992 and on or before 31.12.1996).
  • Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

The applications can be filled at the official website by paying Rs. 700 as application fee for general category (Rs. 150 for SC/ST). The application process would conclude on 27 February and the application editing facility will also be closed on the same day. The last date for printing application is 11 February.

All the applicants will have to appear for the online test, based on which selected candidates will be called for group discussion. Similarly, the candidates will be shortlisted for personal interview on the basis of group discussion. The final selections will be made on the basis of personal interview. The finally selected candidates will be posted as a Probationary Officer in any of the branches of South Indian Bank for a probation period of 2 years.

Probationary Clerks: While the educational qualification for Probationary Clerks remains the same as that for PO, the age limit has been relaxed by 1 year (age should not be more than 26 years). And as the Clerk vacancies are region-based, the candidates having permanent address in the respective state or those who have been residing in the same state continuously at least for a period of 5 years and are proficient in local language apart from English only are eligible to apply for the same. The application fee is Rs. 600 for general and Rs. 150 for SC/ST candidates.

The selection process comprises of an online test, to be followed by personal interview. There will be no group discussion for Clerk posts and final selection will be on the basis of personal interview. The probation period for Clerks will be 6 months.

The online tests for both PO and Clerk posts would be of 200 marks, but the PO exam would be held in 95 cities across the Country. As the Clerk vacancies are region based, the online test for Clerk posts will be organized in Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamilnadu only.
