Symbiosis has been one of the country’s leading educational institution for over 45 years. There are around 45 institutions under Symbiosis International University and the university has been selected by UGC to promote Indian Higher education in foreign countries. As per the notification issued by HRD Ministry, the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) was included under Symbiosis International University in year 2006.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI) falls under Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, Maharashtra Government. As per the latest notification from Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences, SIHS has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with BARTI to impart skill training in healthcare sector.
Healthcare sector in India has always been in shadow when it comes to the trained professionals and to curb this situation, BARTI and SIHS have joined hands. Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences will prepare the training module and prepare candidates registered with BARTI in areas such as general duty administration, home healthcare provider, dental assistant, diet assistant and diabetic educator.
A career counselling program would also be organized at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute where candidates can understand the concepts of skill training and healthcare sector. A similar kind of initiative was taken by Chandigarh based Indian School of Business in November. ISB is planning to launch Healthcare Management Program (HMP) in its campuses located in Mohali and Hyderabad.
Earlier in July last year, the Skill India initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many institutions across the country have come forward to participate in order to prepare more skilled professionals in respective fields. The initiative has also gained support from foreign countries, United States has agreed to collaborate with India on numerous education related projects and even Switzerland has shown its interest in the initiative by increasing its tie ups with India in fields of skill training and educational initiatives. Recently, National Industry Conclave on Skills was organized by Union government in Mumbai to bring together industry captains and professionals from across industries onto one platform to deliberate on important issues related to skill development in India.
During the signing of MoU between the two, many dignitaries were present, namely, Dr.Lalit Kathpaliya, Director Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Dr.Parihar, DG, BARTI, Shri.Dinesh Dingale, Deputy Secretary Ministry of Social Justice, Maharashtra government, Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean, Faculty of Health & Biomedical Sciences, Symbiosis International University, Dr. Parag Rishipathak, Deputy Director, Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences, Dr, Manisha Ketkar, Director, Symbiosis School of Banking & Finance & Registrar, SIU.
