FYJC Mumbai has declared FYJC second merit list for 11th standard online admission this year at 7 PM. The merit list for FYJC Pune has also finally been announced. Due to heavy traffic, fyjc.org.in/mumbai website is working leisurely, so candidates may have to wait a while before they can check their merit status.
FYJC Mumbai: The FYJC Mumbai website had activated the link to check second merit list, as I had mentioned in the comment section (and also provided the link) but as of this moment, the site is displaying the notification for declaration at 7 PM.
FYJC Pune: Finally FYJC Pune has also announced the second merit list. The links are given below.
The second merit list for FYJC Mumbai and Pune is going to be declared today. FYJC merit list 2016 for Pune region will be declared at 4 pm whereas FYJC Mumbai will publish the merit at 5 pm today. The admission in the first phase had concluded by last Thursday after the first merit was announced on 27 June.
As has been noted in the first merit, Arts and commerce streams have been a huge draw for aspirants this year, leaving Science stream cut off way below. Although the second merit list is sure to mark decline in cut-off but just how much, that can’t be predicted yet.
The admission to First Year Junior Colleges (FYJC) are being facilitated through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), an automated and online process. The seats are allotted to students on the basis of their percentage in board exams and also on the basis of category/quota rules.
According to the deputy director of education, Meenakshi Raut, 52,626 seats were allotted in the first round in FYJC Pune against the 82,106 applications received. However, by the end of the first phase, less than 31 thousand confirmed their admissions while around 10 thousand failed to report at the centres, thereby have been excluded from the admission process now. Out of the total seats allotted, 18,169 students had got the college of their first preference and 17,535 got the college of their second to fifth choice. The cut-off in Pune region has scored as high as 97% this time.
A total of 1,84,977 seats were allotted in the first round of merit for FYJC Mumbai region against 2,22,622 registrations. Over 47 thousand candidates had got the seat of their first preference with over 22 thousand and 16 thousand getting the seat of their second and third preference, respectively.
Reports are that around 1,20,523 aspirants have confirmed their provisional admission by reporting to the respective colleges after they were allotted seats in the first round. This has led to the fast-filling of seats in most sought after colleges in the state of Maharashtra. Many candidates also secured their seat by paying a fee of Rs 50 in hopes of getting better chances in the FYJC second merit list.
The picture on the availability of seats and just how many seats have been filled will become clear after second round is complete since most of the candidates have taken provisional admission and they can opt for another college if got a better option in the second round.
Principal of K C College Mumbai, Dr. Manju Nichani has said that a marginal drop is most likely on cards in the second merit list. For example, if the first cut-off was at 90 percent, expect second cut-off to be at 88-89 percent, she added.
Principal of Mithibai college Mumbai, Dr. Rajpal Hande also added his opinion and said that, “Though aspirants can still hope for joining top colleges, it needs to be noted that due to the kind of competition this year has witnessed, the cut-off is not expected to drop much in the second FYJC merit list.”
When the candidates are allotted seat in the second merit today, they need to confirm their admision by paying fee of Rs 50/ and reporting to centres on 5th, 7th and 8th July, between 10 am to 3 pm. The third and final merit is poised to be declared on July 11th, 2016.
FYJC Mumbai second merit list will be published on fyjc.org.in/mumbai at 5 pm today while FYJC Pune second merit list 2016 will be published on pune.fyjc.org.in at 4 pm, today on 4th July.

The education department hasn’t still made the announcement on whether or not there will be any fourth merit list this year. And going by the trend of cut-off this year, students should get admission in second merit only if a good college is allotted here.
