Schools celebrate Teachers’ Day with Painting, Essay Competition

The Hon’ble Prime Minister had suggested promoting the message of ‘Swachhta’ on a massive scale this Teachers’ Day. He suggested to engage smart, young minds in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan through national level essay and painting competitions organized across all the schools on occasion of Teachers’ Day i.e. September 05, 2017. The initiative aims to ensure a structured participation of the school children, youth in the programme and bring in fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm to the Mission.

The Painting Competition is meant for students from class I to V and the Essay Competition may involve students in two categories; one for Class VI to Class VIII and other for Class IX to Class XII. The theme of the Essay Competition is proposed to be “What will I do to make India Clean” while that for Painting Competition is “Clean India of my Dreams”. The word limit for essay is maximum 250 words. The language should be in the medium of instruction of the school concerned.

As per the circular dated August 16, it was recommended that every school strongly encourages all students to participate in the essay and painting competition. As part of Swachh Sankalp se Swachh Siddhi, essay competitions are also being organized for Individuals, they are invited to write essays of not more than 250 words on the theme of Swachhta and describe how they can personally contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The best three entries for each competition i.e. painting (for Class I to V) and essay (one for Class VI to VIII and other category for Class IX to XII) may be rewarded suitably at all levels i.e. School, District, State and National level. The best Essays (three each from two categories) and the best three paintings from the school should be reported to the district administration. All the best entries of each school shall be evaluated at district level by the District Collector who shall constitute a committee to choose the best entries of the district in each category and get them awarded on October 02, 2017.

Awards for Clean India of My Dreams: Three National Awards: Winner, 1st Runner Up and Second Runner Up will be given cash and a certificate. Awards for Essay Competition: In both the categories, Winner, 1st Runner Up and Second Runner Up will be given cash and a certificate.

Prime Minister in his “Mann Ki Baat” on July 29 this year spoke about a ‘Sankalp’ to make “Filth – Quit India”. On August 9 he also issued a clarion call to the nation during his speech in Lok Sabha to embrace the “Sankalp se Siddhi” movement, and appealed to all citizens to play their role towards achieving a New India by 2022.
