In the latest scam that has surfaced now, a total of 100 mark sheets has gone missing from Mumbai University. A charge sheet has been submitted by the Bhandup Police that mentions the number of mark sheets that have gone missing.
As per the charge-sheet submitted by the officials, around 18 people are known to be a part of this scam. Out of those 18, only 10 were arrested. Not only this, those 10 arrested were also granted bail after the charge-sheet was filed by the police. Incidences like these encourage students to take such steps and not study for the examination. A lot of incidents have also taken place in the past. Two years ago, the Assistant Sub Inspector was also caught red handed for taking the bribe as he was supplying answer keys to the students for the Railway Recruitment Board Exam.
As per the charge sheet, those 18 are the beneficiaries in the scam. All those have been accused of changing the marks of the students so that they pass the examination. And all those 18 people include the staff, peons and also the employees of the university. According to sources, “The police has filed a bulky charge sheet, which has the statements of witnesses, panchnamas, and some evidence against the accused. The court granted bail to the accused. Of the 100 missing answer sheets, the police could reach 90 percent of the students concerned, who have given their statements and have become witnesses in the case. Plus, some parents picked up the mark sheets of their children, and some of them also gave statements to the police officers.”
It all started when Bhandup police received a hint through a Whatsapp chat. In that Whatsapp chat, they saw that the images of the hall tickets are being sent to one of the accused. After that, the accused would carry the respective answer sheet to the agent and then those agents gave the answer sheets to the students. After that, the students used to fill the gap that they had left initially by writing the answers in the space. After that, the examination center received the answer sheets back.
According to an official, “A total of 159 mark sheets are missing from the exam center and we have got information about the whereabouts of only 100 of these, while the rest of the 59 sheets are still missing.”
