SBI Clerk Mains Exam 2016 Result Delayed Amid Pending Decision On Interviews

The State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to announce the results of Clerk Mains examinations before August 31, as CRPD Mumbai sources indicated. The delay is due to the confusion and pending decision over SBI holding interviews for this process.

The Bank is expected to announce the results of Clerk Mains exam this month after already missing the deadline of July. The uncertainty is still clouding the declaration of SBI clerk mains result 2016 as the Bank itself has not publicly issued any statement about the topic. But talking to CRPD Mumbai, we found that SBI clerk mains result might be out before August 31, even though official couldn’t give more info. So far, so little we know about the possible reason the SBI clerk result for Mains exam 2016 is facing delay in announcement as no solid reports can be provided without official consent. But here’s what we know.

sbi clerk mains exam resultsFor the ongoing process of recruiting 17,140 clerical cadres (JA & JAA), State Bank had issued the notification earlier this year  The preliminary exam which was conducted in May-June, witnessed a turnout of nearly 25 lakh candidates, out of which, only around 3.5 lakh made the cut to Clerk Mains exam. The mains examination was taken on June 25 and 26, for which the results are still awaited although SBI had set the tentative date of results declaration around July 23. Now there have been a series of speculations on to when the results will be out, but nothing to precision.

According to reports, the primary reason the SBI clerk mains results are being delayed is the pending approval on conducting the interviews. The government is still to to made it’s decision whether or not SBI can hold interviews for clerk recruitment this year. The interviews were held as part of the process up until last year.

IBPS had already ditched the interview process. IBPS officially said no to conducting interviews for clerk V recruitment process, and now only the Main exam marks will be used for the final selection giving mains exam score a 100% weightage. The status on SBI clerk is still pending.

This time, if SBI conducts interviews for the recruitment on clerk posts, then IBPS is also most likely to regain that permission for next recruitment processes, only being followed by more departments and making the clerical cadre recruitment process an Prelims+ Mains+ Interview again. The State Bank had earlier announced that there will be no interviews for clerical cadre posts this time. So, what purpose will it serve if the Bank fails to hold on to it’s own notice if interviews do get to be held.

However, chances are real less for SBI holding interviews for clerk posts because if there are interviews, the results of mains exams are normally announced within 15-20 days as in case of PO mains and it’s already been more than six weeks since the exams were conducted and results aren’t published yet.

It’s likely that following the footprints of IBPS, SBI may increase the sectional cut-off, the most possible method to filter candidates if there are no interviews. It’s expected that SBI will select nearly 51-52 thousand candidates for interviews (if there are any, and with nearly 3 candidates prospecting for 1 vacancy). In other case, the sectional cut-off might lie somewhere between 14 to 20.

Now there’s some good news here too. As one of ExamsWatch’s staff member tried to talk to CRPD Mumbai, the source said that SBI clerk mains result 2016 is likely to get announced before August 31 as the results are still under process. But, the thing is, reports also reveal that results are actually not being released due to the court case still ongoing and due to the pending approval from Government on conducting interviews. We’ll keep you posted with more news here when we get some.
