RRB NTPC mains result 2017 declared, 2nd stage CBT marks for all regions

The result of RRB NTPC mains (stage 2nd) computer-based test (CBT) 2017 have been announced for all 21 RRBs. Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRB) were to declare the RRB NTPC result of mains exam on May 26 but did so a day earlier, today on May 25. The normalized marks of the candidates have been displayed online at RRB regional websites now.

It’s also expected that the merit list i.e., list of the selected candidates will also be released within a week or so. The result of all regions i.e., RRB Ahmedabad, RRB Allahabad, RRB Ajmer, RRB Bangalore, RRB Bhopal, RRB Bhubaneswar, RRB Bilaspur, RRB Chandigarh, RRB Chennai, RRB Gorakhpur, RRB Guwahati, RRB Jammu-Srinagar, RRB Kolkata, RRB Malda, RRB Mumbai, RRB Muzaffarpur, RRB Patna, RRB Ranchi, RRB Secunderabad, RRB Siliguri, and RRB Thiruvananthapuram have been uploaded through one online portal only, which can be checked out below. With the good news of RRB NTPC result date, there is also one bad news for the candidates. As per the revised vacancy table, the number of posts has decreased from previous 18,252 to 14,023 now. There were 4 vacancies of Senior Time Keeper (in RRB Allahabad) previously, which have been nullified now. The revised vacancies look like this:

  • Commercial Apprentice – 683
  • Traffic Apprentice – 1,645
  • Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerk – 30
  • Goods Guard – 5,906
  • Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist – 173
  • Senior Clerk-cum-Typist – 192
  • Assistant Station Master – 5,228
  • Traffic Assistant – 166
  • Sr. Time Keeper – 0
    Total – 14,023

Earlier on May 4, a notice was released by RRBs wherein the candidates who had appeared in the 2nd stage CBT were asked to fill fresh post preferences. The facility was opened for such candidates from May 8 to 14. Now, as per the notice published on May 20, it has been said that the result of 2nd stage CBT will be processed on the basis of fresh preferences filled by the candidates.

The notice further reads, “On the analysis of revised options received till last date, it was noticed that some of the candidates have not submitted their revised post preferences. In the case of such candidates, their initial post preferences filled up at the time of application have been extracted and interpolated.”

As probably one of the biggest recruitment exercises, RRB notified the CEN 03/2015 for filling 18,252 posts across 21 RRBs under Non-Popular Technical Categories – NTPC (Graduate). As a surprise (or a record), over 92 lakh candidates applied for the recruitment process, however, some 56 lakh actually took the exam (first stage online exam) which was conducted from March 28 to May 3, last year. The results of the first stage CBT were announced on December 7, 2016, following which 2,73,250 candidates were provisionally selected for the 2nd stage exam.

RRB NTPC 2nd stage exam was conducted in 43 cities from January 17 to 19 and the answer keys were published on January 24. The candidates were also given the opportunity to submit the representations against the answer keys. Now, within next two days, RRB NTPC result will be out and the candidates will be able to check their marks through RRB websites.

The next step of the selection process comprises of Typing Skill Test & Aptitude Test, wherever required. The candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies will be called for the tests, depending on the RRB NTPC 2nd stage exam result. Since the RRBs are required to consider the revised post preferences and also to conduct its detailed checking, the process may take around two to three weeks. The list of shortlisted candidates for Aptitude & Typing Skill Tests will be published after the completion of the process.

The merit for the posts of Category No. 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Commercial Apprentice, Traffic Apprentice, ECRC & Goods Guard) will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the 2nd stage CBT only. However, the final merit list will be published only after the conclusion of Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test for other posts.

Aptitude Test

RRBs will be holding the Aptitude Test for the posts of Category no. 7 & 8 (Assistant Station Master & Traffic Assistant). A total of 41,824 and 1,328 candidates will be shortlisted for Aptitude Test for ASM and Traffic Assistant posts respectively. The time duration of aptitude test will be 84 minutes. The candidates are required to qualify in the Aptitude test in order to be considered for final selection. The final merit for these posts will be drawn by giving 70% weightage to the 2nd stage exam marks and 30% weightage to Aptitude test marks.

Since the RRBs have decided to conduct the Aptitude test in online mode, the mock test has also been made available on the Indian Railways website.

Typing Skill Test

The typing skill test will be conducted for the posts of Category No. 5 & 6 (Jr. Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist and Sr. Clerk-cum-Typist). The typing skill test will remain qualifying in nature and a total of 1,384 and 1,536 will be called for the test for Jr. Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist and Sr. Clerk-cum-Typist respectively.

The qualification criteria in the Typing Skill Test includes 30 words per minute speed in English and 25 words per minute speed in Hindi on Computer. The candidates will be given 10 minutes for the test. The merit list of these posts will comprise of only those candidates who qualify in the Typing Skill Test and will be based on the performance in 2nd stage exam only.
