Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) concluded the application process for Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS 2016 examination) on Saturday, June 25, 2016, which witnessed a huge jump in the number of applicants under OBC category. As per the reports, 1,41,134 candidates have applied for RAS 2016 exam under OBC category, leaving general category candidates behind by a margin of around 30 thousand applications. Total 4,09,474 candidates have applied for the exam as the application process ended on Saturday.
RPSC issued the official notification on April 28, 2016, for inviting online applications for total 725 posts. The application process was carried out from May 10 to June 25. The commission received more than 2.6 lakh applications in the month of June, while more than 23,600 applicants completed their registration on the last day.
All in all, RPSC has received over 4 lakh applications, which includes 1,10,324 applications from General category, 1,41,138 from OBC category, 13,521 from ABC, 80,535 under SC, 49,272 under ST, 1,772 under TSP SC, 12,870 under TSP ST and 41 under Sahariya category.
RPSC Chairman Dr. Lalit K. Panwar said the commission had given enough time of 47 days for the application process. He further added that the Commission has started preparations for the RAS Pre exam to be held on August 28 and hence it is not considering to extend the application dates. RPSC would conduct RAS Pre exam 2016 on the curriculum of RAS 2013 exam.
The RPSC RAS examination will be held in two stages; Preliminary and Main exam. All the applicants will have to take the preliminary examination, based on which RPSC will shortlist candidates for Main exam. RPSC will then ask the Main exam qualified candidates to appear for interview round.
