The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has notified that it will accepting the applications for recruitment to Grade B officer posts from May 3 onward. The notification had been advertised earlier. There are total 161 vacancies on offer this year distributed as 145 vacancies under General, 12 vacancies under Department of Economic and Policy Research, and 4 vacancies under Department of Statistics and Information Management.

While the notification for Grade B Officer recruitment was notified in July last year, RBI has opened up the recruitment two months earlier this time. The online registrations for RBI Grade B recruitment 2017 will remain open from May 3 to 23 and the selection process will be the same as the last year. All the applicants will have to undergo a screening test (Phase I) and the shortlisted ones will be called for the Main exam (Phase II). The final selection will be made on the basis of aggregate marks in Phase 2 exam and interview.
As per the recruitment rules, the age limit will be 21 to 30 years, while the candidates should have secured at least 60 percent marks in Bachelor’s Degree course, Class 12 and Class 10. RBI will be holding the Phase 1 & 2 exams in online mode, as it was the previous year. The Phase 1 or prelims exam is scheduled to be held on June 17, while the Phase 2 exam will be held on July 7. The Phase 1 exam will be organized at multiple test centers in all the States/ UTs, but the Phase 2 exam will be conducted only in some 20 major cities. Based on the performance in the Phase 1 exam, as much as 3,220 candidates will be shortlisted for the Phase 2 exam. Upon final shortlisting from the Main exam, the Board will hold the interviews to make final selections.
The role of a Grade B Officer in Reserve Bank of India is more involvement in administrative work involving policy matters, foreign exchange, currency management, government securities, etc. As the minimum educational qualification for the post is graduation, applications in tunes of lakhs are received by the Bank each time.
