Recently, a senior journalist was shot dead in the Siwan district of Bihar. Despite Chief Minister Nitish Kumar taking a vow that he will act against the killers, the family still demands that the CBI looks into the matter. The family believes that CBI will do the needful and help them at this point of time. They also said that they do not have faith in the Bihar Police, as a result of which, they demand CBI probe into the matter.
Senior journalist, 42 years, was shot down by some unknown men from point-blank range near the Siwan railway station in Bihar on Friday. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival’. According to the police, he was shot at two places, one on his head and on his neck.
His father, Radhe Choudhary, said, “We demand a CBI investigation so that the criminals won’t be spared.” Opposition BJP leaders met the victim’s family in Siwan. A BJP leader said, “We believe that only the CBI can work out the case. The perpetrators can be some powerful persons in jail, and the government lacks the courage to act against them.”
Rajdeo Ranjan was the Bureau Chief of Hindi daily ‘Hindustan’. On Saturday, he was about to celebrate his 17th wedding anniversary. He was cremated at Hakam village in Siwan.
According to SP of Siwan, Saurabh Kumar, “It seems six people have carried out the murder. 3 people have been detained. We have zeroed in on the gang that could be behind the killing and the gang has links with Shahabuddin. We expect to crack the case by tomorrow morning.”
Apparently, top politicians from Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi demanded President’s rule in the state. They said that crime has increased a lot and things are going beyond the control of the Nitish Kumar government. The killing of Ranjan is yet another incident against journalist, recently one more journalist named Indraneo Yadav was killed in Jharkhand.
