Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) 10th result 2017 has been declared today by the Board Chairman Balbir Singh Dhol, but the same will be accessible online only on May 23, tomorrow. The similar schedule was followed by the Board some 9 days ago when the Class 12th results were officially declared on May 13, but the students were able to check them only the next day. The Punjab Board 10th result will be available online at pseb.ac.in, the official website of the Board.
As per the statistics of PSEB 10th result 2017 released by the Board, the passing percentage has been recorded at 57.5 percent. A total of 3,30,437 students took the Matric examination this year, comprising of 1,83,979 Boys and 1,46,458 girls. Though the number of Girls is quite less than the Boys, as much as 63.97 Girls have passed the board exams as compared to only 52,35 percent Boys. Overall, 1,90,001 students have managed to pass PSEB 10th board exams, while 45,734 students have been declared fail and 94,271 students have been listed under Re-Appear category. Also, the results of some 431 students has been kept withheld by the Board.
There has been no visible difference in the passing percentage when it comes to the area: Urban and Rural. There’s only a difference of 0.65 percent where the Urban area holds the lead. As far as the district-wise performance is concerned, Ludhiana tops the chart with as much as 113 toppers, while Mohali holds the last spot with only 2 toppers. As much as 379 students have been listed in the PSEB 10th merit list.
PSEB 10th Toppers 2017: Among the top 3 students, two girls have secured the spots. Shruti Vohra from DAV Public Senior Secondary School, Ropar has topped the Class 10th board exams with 98.77 % marks. Other two toppers are Amit Yadav with 98.62% and Simmi Kumari with 98.31 percent marks, both from Sai Public Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.
As many as 37,963 students have secured 80 percent or above marks in PSEB 10th board examination. If we look closely at the results, the passing percentage has dropped sharply from the previous year. Last year, a total of 3,42,330 students had taken the matric examination and the passing percentage was 72.25. From a simple look, one would easily say that the passing percentage has dropped, but that’s not the case. Last year, the Board had awarded grace marks to some 1.12 lakh students, thus declaring them passed in the board exams. As much as 27 marks were awarded to the students as grace marks, the decision which was largely criticized. Initially, the pass percentage was a meager 39.5. Read more about it here.
