Prasad Lad today joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as its state executive in Nashik. As the news broke out, social networking site Twitter flooded with the appreciation for Prasad and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Prasad Lad currently holds the Director post of Mumbai District Central Co-op Bank Limited and is the Ex-Chairman of Mumbai Building Repairs & Reconstruction Board.
Prasad Lad had been associated with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for a long time. He had also contested the 2014 Assembly elections as an NCP candidate from Sion-Koliwada, however, he lost to BJP candidate Capt. R. Tamil Selvan by more than 40 thousand votes. Then during the State Legislative Council polls, Lad rebelled to challenge Congress’ candidate Bhai Jagtap, Congress had a poll-alliance with NCP, then Lad quit the NCP. BJP had then pulled out its candidate from polls, which brought Pad closer to BJP.
If the sources are to be believed, the inclusion of Prasad Lad in BJP would lead to the joining of at least 10 BMC Corporators in BJP. A senior BJP leader said, “The induction will be held in a phased manner. Lad’s entry will start the exodus to the BJP.” It is also expected that some directors of Mumbai District Co-operative Bank would soon follow the path.
Lad is a popular figure in Mumbai, known as ‘Peoples Person’. Prasad got engaged in Politics a long time ago when he joined National Youth Congress Mumbai and National Student Union of India. From being a founder activist worker of NCP, he rose to the General Secretary post of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress (NCP). Prasad was also nominated as the ‘Trustee’ of the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust for the tenure from the year 2004 to 2007.
Prasad Lad did not restrict himself to only politics and got engaged in many social causes. In the year 2001, he founded ‘Krystal Group of Companies’ which is, currently, one of the largest Integrated Facility Management Companies in India.
Prasad Lad had earlier said, “I will be inducted into the BJP tomorrow. I don’t want to say much about this. I will talk about it after I become an official member of the party.”
Twitteraties welcomed the inclusion of Prasad Lad in BJP and shared their feelings with the hashtag #BJPWelcomesPrasadLad. While expecting major changes in the politics, one user said, “I hope new team will do better for Maharashtra as many regions are facing drought and industry needs a boost.” Another tweet said, “With inclusion of Prasad Lad in BJP, a solid administration is now formed and will make a positive impact to the betterment of the State.”
