Paper leaked, then cancelled at Saurashtra University, 4 held

The exam of B.Sc. fifth semester was cancelled on Monday by the Saurashtra university. The varsity has cancelled the subject papers of Physics, Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. The papers were leaked on social media.

Update: 4 persons have been held in the paper leak case, out of which 2 are University clerks.

Saurashtra UniversityA complaint has also been lodged against the person who has done this, though the person has still not been identified. The police has detained a person whom they think is involved in this. The complaint has been lodged under different sections of IPC and under sections of the IT Act with the nearby police station.

Sanjay Bhayani, in-charge vice-chancellor of Saurashtra University, said, “We cancelled the exam as soon as we heard about the paper leak. The examination of this subject will now be conducted on October 21 at 10:30am.” The university was still not sure whether to distribute the same paper to the students or not.

The exam was cancelled after 45 minutes of the commencement of the exam and the students were told about this later. Around 3,297 students were appearing for the exam.

An official said, “We noticed the news on television and some of our professors also called us to inform that copies of a question paper were being circulated on social media. On verification, we observed that majority of the questions in the leaked paper resembled to the original question paper. We called police and ordered cancellation of examination immediately.”

Few months ago, around 51 students  of the university were seen indulging in mass copying. Later, a case was also registered against the Saurashtra university. A video was also floated in which it was shown that the students were copying with the help of their mobile phones. The students were seen speaking on the mobile phones and copying.
