The common entrance examination for Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar was conducted today on June 4 across 31 centres. The entrance test – OUAT CET 2017 has been conducted for admission into B.Sc.(H) Agriculture/ B.Sc.(Honours) Horticulture/ B.V.Sc. & A.H./ B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering)/ B.F.Sc./ B.Sc.(H) Forestry & B.Sc.(Honours) Community Science courses being offered under the ambit of the University.
The applications for OUAT CET 2017 or CEE 2017 were submitted from April 1 to May 10 and the test has been conducted today. The test was organised in a single shift of 2 hours from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. Thousands of students take the OUAT CET for securing admissions in the undergraduate courses offered by the University. The total intake capacity is 608 seats, comprising of 348 general seats and 260 cost sharing seats.
A common merit list & category wise merit list of the candidates category wise will be prepared basing on the weighted score. Admission will be made through counselling to different UG courses/ colleges strictly according to the merit.
As per the schedule provided by the Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, the candidates who took the CET will have to fill the application form-B online and upload necessary documents & testimonials. The facility will remain open from June 8 to 22. The candidates will not have to send any hard copy of the application to the University.
OUAT CET 2017 was conducted as a single paper consisting of multiple choice questions. The questions were distributed amongst three sections- Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics/ Biology. The total maximum marks in the entrance exam are 200 and the break-up among subjects was as follows: Physics (66 marks), Chemistry (66 marks), and Mathematics/ Biology (68 marks). The candidates were required to answer one of the Mathematics and Biology section. There was no negative marking in the test.
The candidates will be selected solely on the basis of merit (weighted score) which is based on his/her academic career and performance in the entrance exam. The University will publish the merit list for admission purpose, the determination of merit will be done by taking the marks in following proportions mentioned ahead of the exam:
- HSC/ equivalent – 25%
- +2 Sc./ equivalent – 25
- Entrance Exam – 50%
The counselling and admission process will be carried out from July 17 to 21. The admission of state government sponsored candidates will be done on July 22, while the oriental programme and commencement of classes will be from July 24.
For the pass out students of Diploma in Agro-Polytechnic Course of OUAT, 10% of the intake capacity of respective streams of Diploma in Agro-Polytechnic Course are kept reserved in different UG courses and such students are required to appear for another entrance exam which is scheduled to be held on June 11. The entrance exam for Agro-Polytechnic students will be conducted in the Examination Hall of College of Agriculture, OUAT, and Bhubaneswar.
OUAT was established in the year 1962 and currently offers education at the UG and PG levels in Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Fishery Science, Community Science & Forestry in the semester system.
