Another accident happened at metro rail project in Lucknow on Sunday morning while the concreting work was going on. It has been reported that the workers were filling the concrete between two metro pillars when all of a sudden, the shuttering collapsed, causing injuries to 3 labourers.
Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), the authority has constituted a committee to investigate into the cause of investigation. Few officials of the corporation are at the spot with a police team.
On Sunday morning, when the metro workers were concreting the portion between two pillars at Sardari khera in Alambagh area, the shuttering beneath the grid fell along with the newly settled concrete. District Magistrate Raj Shekhar informed that there are no casualties, and three workers were injured who were immediately rushed to the Awadh hospital. He also confirmed that a team of NDRF consisting 15 members are also at the site to help in rescue operation.
One patient named Sohanlal was severely injured, so he was referred to KGMC Trauma Center. VC of KGMU Prof Ravikant has directed KGMU authorities for quick response and best possible treatment to Metro rail victims free of cost. He informed that Sohanlal was admitted with multiple injuries and all the expert teams are taking care of him.
An auto rickshaw was also damaged after part of the under-construction metro pillar fell on it. Considering the smooth rescue operation, police immediately diverted the traffic.
Despite being warned by the Chief advisor of Lucknow Metro E. Sreedharan, this the second accident within two weeks. Just two weeks ago, concrete fell on a car at another location of metro project in Lucknow, though there was no casualty.
In the budget for the financial year 2016-17, UP government has allocated Rs. 814 crore for Lucknow Metro. The UP Government has set up December 2016 deadline for running the metro rail in Lucknow.
