The Union Minister of Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Smriti Irani has been invited as the Chief Guest for distributing 50000 fruit-bearing saplings by an Non-Governmental Organization in Amethi on September 20, 2015. Amethi is considered as the constituency of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
The HRD Minister has been invited to preside the function as a Chief Guest by the NGO Khushaali Foundation. But the BJP leaders of the district consider it as Irani’s trick to keep Rahul busy and focused towards the developments in Amethi.
Senior Party Leader Keshave Prasad Singh was of the view that no doubt that Smriti Irani faced a defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from this constituency and then too, she repeatedly visits Amethi to make her public contact in a broader way which may affect the political equations in the long run.
As per the views given by the minister’s PRO Vijay Gupta it seems that the programme to visit Amethi on September 20 is Final and he also confirmed that 50,000 saplings of fruit-bearing trees like Aonla would be distributed to people of Amethi.
While on her last visit, she suggested the Congress-backed Rajiv Gandhi Trust to purchase acres of land and use to establish Samrat bicycle unit in Amethi. The allegations led to furore with Congress leaders defending the party and claiming the trust had purchased the land through auction. On her last visit to Amethi she offered insurance coverage to around 25000 women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The programme is scheduled to be conducted at two educational institutes each of Amethi and Gauriganj assembly constituencies of the district. On successful completion of the programme, Irani will return back to New Delhi. On her last visit she promised the people of Amethi that she will return back either in the month of September or October so as to offer new assured benefits to the people of Amethi via the NDA Government’s Mudra Bank initiative. BJP leaders said, “for the upcoming program of September 20 Mudra Bank does not hold any position on the agenda.” However they further added that such regular visits by the minister do keep the Congress on their toes.
From the official sources it has been revealed that earlier next year i.e. in the month of January Union HRD minister will also address similar programmes in three other Assembly segments – Tiloi, Jagdishpur and Salon (R).
