There could be no better surprise gift on the auspicious occasion of New Year than getting promoted to the post of ad-hoc principals in government inter colleges. 575 school headmasters of state government high schools of Uttarakhand State have been promoted as ad-hoc principals in government inter colleges. Over 50 female teachers are also expected to be appointed as principals soon.
These state colleges were running without a principal since past few years and hence the ill-effect on the activities was largely seem. Hopefully, the situation will improve now. Moreover, on Friday evening, the teachers got another reason to rejoice as transfer orders of hundreds of government school teachers in Kumaon Mandal has been passed.
The move was questioned by many on the basis that the newly appointed principals will now get the benefit of Rs 7,600 grade pay akin to senior principals, who earned the same after years of hard work.
On the other hand, questioning the disparity in promotion, few women teachers questioned the disparity in the promotion of male and female teachers. This is so because 575 headmasters have got promotion and just 52 headmistresses will get a chance to be principals.
Many hailed and appreciated the decision and said that Chief Minister Harish Rawat took note of the demand and relaxed the compulsory five-year term to promote a headmaster to principal’s post. Expressing his happiness, a promoted principal, Virendra Tripathi said, “This promotion has come as a New Year gift and we are thankful to the association for raising the matter. We will now get the increased grade pay and of course, our responsibilities will be different. But we will work diligently.”
