NEET 2017 will be somewhat different from the last year in terms of eligibility. Now, there has been a couple of changes in the eligibility criteria for this year in NEET 2017. The University Grant Commission (UGC) has announced that there will be an age limit of maximum 25 years and minimum 17 years for general candidates while the age limit for others will be 30 years. Also, there will be 3 maximum attempts for candidates, and that too before you turn 25.
This crucial decision has been taken to pacify the misleading guidance by coaching institutes. Usually, people prepare for medical and dental entrance exam for long duration by enrolling into coaching institutions thus making the business of coaching institutes. Also, the faculty of coaching took tests to assess the examination which would be not be continued after this decision.
Also, there has been official data that many older candidates are competing with 17 year old student which is tough for a fresh brain. However, the official notification is yet to come.
Till now, there has no maximum age limit or any limit on the number of attempts. Now, this will change the face of the NEET 2017 and will provide better chances to freshers. Medical experts and officials have lauded this move of UGC and said this will change the quality of medical and dental course in upcoming years.
The official notification will likely to come soon on the official website www.aipmt.nic.in or www.cbseneet.nic.in. Also, this year NEET 2017 will be the single examination for all medical and dental courses in the colleges and university of India. The bill for single examination to reduce corruption was passed last year. However, there was some case where individual exam has been conducted but Supreme Court has neglected.
Once the official notification has been out, the important dates will be available for candidates. The paper pattern would likely remain same this year.
