NEST 2016 Registration and Complete Schedule notified

The dates for Nationwide Education and Scholarship test for this year’s has been notified by the organising foundation. The registrations began earlier this week and will be carried out till 30 September without any late fees. However, the applications can be submitted till 30 November with a late fee of Rs 100, and Rs 200 till 31 December 2015.

Common Admission Test, CAT, Graduate Record Exam, GRE, Test of English as Foreign Language, TOEFL, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE are various examinations conducted for admitting the students for the purpose of higher studies in institutes of high repute. A Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test, NEST, would be conducted in January 2016 and it would help students to sharpen their skills and knowledge for the above said examinations.

Qualification Measures:

To be eligible for NEST-I, students must be in their first and second year of Engineering, Medicine (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS), Bachelor of Computer Application, BCA, Bachelor of Science,BSc, and those students of Class 12. It should be noted that the first ranked candidate would receive Rs 75,000 and other candidates would receive ten or more scholarships of amount Rs 30,000 each.

To be eligible for NEST-II, students must be in their third and fourth year degree of Engineering, Medicine, BCA  courses. The main point that must be considered in this is, students of BSc computer science and Information Technology are only allowed to appear in the exam unlike all the branches of BSc course students who are allowed to appear for NEST 1. The first ranked candidate would receive amount of Rs 1 lakh and rest would receive ten or more scholarships of amount Rs 30,000 each.

Application Fees:

For students who appear for NEST 1 examination, Rs 600 will be collected as application fees and the last date is September 30th 2015. Suppose if a candidate pays application fees after the above prescribed date then he/she will have  to pay additional amount of Rs 100 till 30th November and further additional amount of Rs 200 till 31st December 2015.

For students who appear for NEST 2 examination, Rs 700 will be collected towards application and the last date is September 30th 2015. Failing to pay before the prescribed date would result in extra amount of Rs 100( till 30th November 2015) and Rs 200 (till December 31st 2015).

Exam Pattern and Content:

Candidates proficiency in the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, English Language, Reasoning and General knowledge would be put to test. 50 marks is allotted for physics and chemistry of class 11 and class 12, 50 marks is allotted for Maths and biology of Class 11 and Class 12. English Language/Verbal Aptitude, Logical Thinking/Reasoning , General Knowledge are allotted 50 marks, 25 marks and 25 marks respectively.

The deadline for submitting application form is 30th September 2015 . Application form can be downloaded for official web portal www.nest.net.in and filled in application form along with demand draft must be sent to the prescribed address.

Grading System:

The written test will take place on 31 January 2016 for which the results are notified to be displayed on 5 April, 2016. The candidates will be able to receive their score cards from the first week of June afterwards. The grading system is defined in the image below extracted from official notification.

NEST 2016 gradingThe content, style and exam pattern of the test is similar to those of aptitude test conducted for management admissions. The certification of appreciation will be provided to candidates after the results announcement.
