NEET SS 2017 application forms released; exam on June 10, 11

NEET Super Specialty 2017 (NEET SS 2017) is scheduled to be held on June 10 and 11, 2017 at various cities across India. The eligibility cum ranking examination will be conducted by National Board of Examination (NBE) for admission into DM/M.Ch courses in the country for the academic session 2017-2018. The online application process has begun from April 13, 2017 and will end on May 13, 2017. The results are expected to be declared on July 15, 2017. Pre-testing window will open on May 14, 2017 to June 09, 2017 from 9:30AM to 5:30PM from Monday to Friday.

It is a computer based test and shall comprise of 200 Multiple Choice Based questions from the MD/MS curriculum followed at medical colleges in India duly prescribed and allotted by Medical Council of India with prior approval from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. NEET-SS 2017 is a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Super Specialty Courses’ such as all DM/MCh Courses in the country including all Private Medical Colleges/ Institutions/ Universities/Deemed Universities. It is also applicable for admission in DM/MCh courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

NEET SS shall be conducted on computer-based test (CBT) platform. This is not an Internet-based test, i.e. a candidate does not take the test over the Internet. However, much different from the typical type of test wherein the candidates have to read the questions from a paper booklet and then darken the ovals in the answer booklet. Here candidates have to read the questions that appear on their computer screen and choose the best suitable answer and click on that answer with the help of a mouse.

Application Process: Candidates have to apply online at the official website of National Board of Education. Candidates should ensure before applying for the registration that they possess a recognized degree/Provisional Pass Certificate of MD/MS/DNB as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act or an equivalent recognized qualification.

Application Fee: NEET SS 2017 application fee is INR 3750. The prescribed examination fee should be remitted through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or through Internet Banking.

Scheme of the Test: The duration of the test shall be 2½ hours. There shall be 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. A candidate can appear for only one specialty.  There will also be an additional 15-minute tutorial prior to the start of the test. Prior beginning with the exam, candidates will also be required to accept a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Syllabus: The exam will be at the level of MD/MS in the respective specialty. Please refer to MCI website for latest syllabus & curriculum.

Test Timings and Cities: NEET SS 2017 will be conducted in 19 centres across the nation. The exam will start sharp at 10 am and will end at 12:45 pm exact.

Admit Card: At the end of Registration & Scheduling process, the applicant will get a computer generated acknowledgement at the registered email id of the applicant. Once the candidate successfully completes the registration process, he/she shall be issued the admit card. After taking print out of the same, candidates have to affix a latest passport size photograph of minimum 35×45 mm with at least 75% coverage of face & head of the candidate.

The medical institutions which are not covered for admissions to DM/M.Ch seats through NEET-SS for 2017 session is AIIMS, New Delhi, PGIMER, Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, NIMHANS, Bengaluru and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum. Kindly Note: No state government /private medical college/Universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh shall be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their DM/MCh Courses for the 2017 admission session.
