The NEET story, delayed admit cards, irked students

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)- is a common entrance test for admissions in MBBS and BDS programs across all institutions of the country. The test was made compulsory from this year for all the institutions to follow, thanks to the Hon’ Supreme Court. Before taking any test, one needs to have his/her admit card for the test and the case is same with NEET.

While many medical aspirants are seeking an extension in the exam date of NEET 2017 because of the huge syllabus, here is the country’s biggest education body – the Central Board of Secondary Education – which has succeeded in wasting at least two days of them. And with exam approaching fast, these two days count too much for them.

CBSE had initially scheduled the release of test admit cards on April 15 as the exam date is May 7. On the D-day, CBSE forgot to announce anything, except a notice which was updated at around 8.30 pm and even that notice was about the postponement in the release of NEET admit card. This was the first wasted day for medical aspirants.

Kindly note this kid is not going to take NEET this year, but he will, for sure 😉

The notice that was updated on April 15 said the admit cards will be hosted on April 22, today. Then came another D-day and over 1.15 million students, their parents & their relatives tried accessing the CBSE NEET website since early morning. But Hello…no admit card. It was only around 10 am today that the link to download the admit card was updated at the official site and it was just the beginning of another waster day. The link was accessed at once by many users and the website servers could not handle it. The site became inaccessible in minutes.

After testing the patience of many users, NEET portal started displaying the error message. It was only in the evening that CBSE (read site managers) tried another formula – they came up with a temporary page. The temporary page had only the link to download NEET admit card, while the actual homepage having vital information about the exam was hidden. Well, as everyone knows, even it didn’t work. Then came another experiment, CBSE update two links to help students download their admit card. Again, as it seems it couldn’t help them.

Clicking on any of the two links takes the user to log in page (only sometimes) and when the students try to enter the login details, it shows error. Here are some reactions from the students:

And then there were some lucky ones 🙂
