The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the admit cards for the second phase of NEET 2016, to be held on July 24 in 80 cities across the country. The online applications for the test were invited from May 26 to June 25, and as per the official statistics, around 4.7 lakh aspirants have registered for the test. Over 6.5 lakh had appeared for the NEET – 1 (AIPMT) which was held on May 1, 2016.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET was brought in order by the Hon’ble Supreme Court as a single entrance test for admissions in all medical and dental seats available at private and state-run medical/dental colleges across the country. Only some states were given exemption from the test as the central government passed an ordinance for separate CETs, only for admissions in government colleges. All private colleges and those government-run colleges (which have agreed for admissions on the basis of NEET score) will commence admission process once the results of NEET are announced. The results of NEET (phase 1 and 2) will be declared as a combined result on or before August 17.
As the candidates who had appeared in NEET 1 were allowed to apply for NEET 2 also, the official stats revealed that only 1.3 lakh applications for NEET-2 are fresh and remaining 3.4 lakh applicants are those who had taken NEET 1 in May. These candidates have given up their candidature for NEET 1 and hence will be rewarded rank based on their performance in NEET 2. The entrance test will consist of three sections/subjects; Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). There will be four sets of question paper; A, B, C & D and the particular set code will be mentioned in the Test Booklet and OMR sheet.
The test will be conducted from 10 AM to 1 PM and candidates will be allowed entry into the examination hall from 7.30 AM. Every candidate should have entered the examination hall by 9.30 AM as no candidate will be given entry after that time. Candidates are allowed to bring only admit card, passport size photograph and post card size photograph affixed on proforma to the examination hall as even the pen for doing rough work in test booklet and filling answer sheet will be provided at the centre. All the questions would be required to answered on the OMR sheets provided at the time of test.
OMR sheets will be displayed for all candidates of NEET 1 and NEET 2 from August 4 to 6 and then the answer keys will be uploaded on the official website on August 7. Candidates will also be allowed to challenge the answer keys within stipulated time frame.
The admit card bears the candidate’s roll number, name, father’s name, category, sub-category, photograph, signature, date of birth, the language of question paper with name and address of test centre that have been allotted. The registered candidates can download NEET 2 admit card using their respective registration number and date of birth from the official site www.aipmt.nic.in. One should check all the particulars mentioned in the admit card and preserve it till the admission process concludes.
