Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti to recruit 2072 Teachers, exams in December

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has notified 2072 vacancies to be filled this year, which includes 2 posts of Assistant Commissioner, 40 posts of Principal, 880 posts of Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), 660 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) posts, 235 TGT (Third Language Teachers) posts and 255 teacher posts under Miscellaneous categories. Majority of these vacancies are in North East region and hard stations and hence the selected candidates would be posted at these locations. Selected candidates will initially be on probation for a period of two years, which can be extended by the Samiti. The online application process has started on September 10 and will continue up to October 09.

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has opened online registrations from eligible candidates through the official websites www.nvshq.org and www.mecbsegov.in. The online registrations would close on October 9 and the candidates would have to appear for a written exam which is scheduled to be held in December. The written test for Assistant Commissioner & Principal posts would be conducted (at Delhi only) on December 4 in two separate sessions, while the written test for TGT, Miscellaneous Teachers, TGT (Third Language Teachers) posts would be conducted in the morning session on December 18. The written test for PGT posts would be held in the evening session on December 18. The written test for posts other than Assistant Commissioner & Principals would be conducted in several test centres spread across 42 cities, the exact location would be mentioned in the admit cards.

The vacancies include PGTs for Biology, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Maths, Physics and Information Technology; TGTs for English, Hindi, Maths, Science and Social Studies; Miscellaneous teachers for Music, Art, PET and Librarian and TGTs (Third Language) for Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Garo, Gujarati, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Mizo, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu languages.

Selection of TGTs, Miscellaneous Teachers (Librarian) and TGTs (Third Language) would be solely on the basis of written exam, while the candidates applying for PGTs, Assistant Commissioner & Principal posts would have to go through a two-tier selection process consisting of a written exam and interview.

NVS Recruitment 2016 : Understanding the selection process

For Assistant Commissioner & Principal : The written exam for these posts would consist of 5 parts, of which four are common. These common tests are: Reasoning Ability (20 questions), General Awareness (40 questions), Language Test (40 questions) and Quantitative Aptitude (20 questions). Part-5 for Assistant Commissioner exam would be Educational Planning and Administration while for Principals, it would be Administrative and Financial procedure. Part-5 would have 60 questions and in all, the written exam would have 180 questions and the candidates would be given 3 hours to solve all the parts.

For PGTs, TGTs, Miscellaneous and TGTs (Third Language) : The test would have 200 questions : 30 questions under General Awareness, 30 questions under General Intelligence, Numerical Ability & Reasoning, 20 questions to test Teaching Aptitude, 40 questions on General English & Hindi and 80 questions on concerned subject knowledge. The exam would be of 150 minutes duration.

After the written exam, the results would be announced and the shortlisted candidates would be called to appear for interviews (wherever required). The applicants are advised to take a printout of the online application form and preserve it as the same would be required during document verification at the time of interviews.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Human Resource Development and looks after the functioning of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The government decided to set up residential schools to be called Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas under the National Policy on Education-1986. At present, there are 591 schools functioning all over the country.
