Update at 9 am, June 7: MGU Trial allotment result for admissions to UG Degree programs has been published by the University. The students will have to login using the application number and password to view the trial allotment. MGU Trial allotment explores the possibility of securing allotment by applicants in the college/programme of their choice that may vary in the actual allotments. The candidates should note that data modification/Addition of options is not possible after 08/06/2017, 5 pm.
Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) will publish trial allotment for admissions in undergraduate programs today on 7th June along with the provisional rank list. The Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) for UG admissions under Mahatma Gandhi University started from May 18 for the academic year 2017-18. Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala had issued the application forms for CAP 2017 on May 18 and the registrations went up to June 3. Now, the University will be publishing the provisional rank and trial allotment result on Wednesday. The students will come to know about their chances of being allotted a seat of their choice through the trial allotment. With the publication of MGU trial allotment result, the students will also have the facility to modify the data entered by them while submitting the application. The students will also be able to rearrange/ add/ delete the options by June 8.
MGU Trial allotment result will be as per the rank list prepared on the basis of the marks secured by the students in the qualifying examination. The updated data provided by the students up to June 8 will be used by the University for the declaration of first allotment result and will only be considered for admission purposes. MGU First allotment result will be out on 13th June and the selected students will be required to deposit the fee due to University by June 14. Based on the real allotment status, the students will have to report to the concerned college for document verification as well as to furnish the admission formalities.
All students who get allotment should report for admission to the college concerned after remitting the requisite fee due to University through the Online Payment Gateway. The candidates will be able to download the allotment memo only after remitting the fee, the prospectus of MGU UG CAP 2017 mentions.
Established in the year 1983, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala offers various UG, PG, M.Phil and doctoral programs through its 18 University Departments, 1 International Inter University Centre, 6 Inter University Centres, 8 Inter School Centres, 36 Self-Financing Departments, 75 Aided Affiliated Colleges (of which five colleges have become autonomus), 220 Unaided Affiliated Colleges and 273 Recognised Research Centers. Apart from a campus at Athirampuzha in Kottayam, the University also has ten satellite campuses.
The seats available in Govt/ Aided/ Self-financing affiliated colleges and self-financing programs in Aided colleges are mainly classified as Merit seats, community seats and management seats. The seats to be filled under CAP 2017 include 100% seats in government colleges, 70% seats in aided colleges and 50% seats in unaided colleges. This includes the seats earmarked for SC/ ST candidates in Aided Colleges and 50% seats in Unaided programs conducted in Aided Colleges. There are as much as 55,000 seats for UG programs in the University’s affiliated institutions, of which 24,457 are offered by the Colleges in Ernakulam.
MGU introduced Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) in 2010 for PG programs, later the process was extended to UG admissions too. The marks/ grades secured by a candidate at the +2 level decide the eligibility for admission to UG programs through MGU CAP.
